Tischer (getbmwparts.com) has E82 Rear Window Shades in stock!!

Been seeing a lot of talk over the past few years about the rear window shade (part # 51460432844) being sold out/NLA across North America.

Took a chance and tried to order the part from getbmwparts.com and they notified me they ordered the part and it would ship in 2 days. That was 2 days ago, and I just got notification the part shipped from Tischer's warehouse today.

Get it while you still can.

Ask and ye shall receive. I had to see what on earth this was/looked like, too. Not sure what I think, especially if you already have tinted windows:

Full Ceramic Tint FTW. Honestly put, these look horrible, are more expensive, and have to be installed every time you stop.

These are awesome. I wouldn't compare them to tint, but they have a clean look of their own. I leave them in all the time. I got lucky and bought mine used, but would have bought new had I known they were still available a few months ago when I was dying to have them.

These are the perfect alternative to tint. They look classy, block the sunlight, can easily be seen out of, and for people who track their car they can be taken out in 2 seconds. Also don't have to worry about cops getting you for illegal tint.

I have them in the back of my X5 and I also have tint. It think they look great, and doubling up when living in Texas makes sense.

I have tint, and no, you don't have to install them "every time you stop". They can be left in the rear window 100% off the time.. and the fact you think they look horrible is your own personal opinion, which means absolutely nothing to me.

Fair enough, I could see the utility in Texas. We get hot here too, but apparently 100deg is not enough to consider that.

Seems like it did mean something to you from the syntax of your reply. Meh. I can't see why you would need these if you already have tint unless you live in the devils asscrack. You dont, and so the choice baffles me further. Not my car though, do what you like obviously.

Thanks for posting the link though. I should have said that in my first post.

I have them in my car and LOVE them!! I've driven with all the windows down up to 165 mph and they stay in place. I've never had to mess with them. Great product!

The Virginia law below is why I choose to use a shade AND tint. My windows are tinted with the legal 35%, however that is not nearly dark enough for me as during the summer it regularly visits 90 degree temperatures with 80% humidity:

1. No sun-shading or tinting films may be applied or affixed to the rear side windows or rear window or windows of any motor vehicle operated on the highways of this Commonwealth that reduce the total light transmittance of such window to less than 35 percent;

The loophole is that if the police do decide to pull you over to test your tint, they can't nail you because the sunshade itself is not a "film". Virginia regulators shot themselves in the foot with this law; just like the law regarding carrying a loaded pistol in the car: lots of loopholes..
