Recommended tire size would be 225/40 and 255/35

Is it a trick of the camera or are the spoke profiles different on the black and white car, seems to have more of a kick on the black car.

I'm not sure what you mean by "kick", but the black car is a photoshop. That is the 20" version made for M3, but sized down and placed on our 1er.
