Question Time attack rings for OEM Rims (Style 261 M) !

Hey guys

Is there any way I can make/install/buy a time attack ring for my Style 261 M rims?

They are stock silver at the moment, wanted to powder coat them black and then install a white time attack ring around them.

So from stock Style 261 M:

To powder coated black Style 261 M:

+ a White Time Attack ring.

Any ideas on how I can do this? I know EAS sells these but they are only for the CSL reps like fellow forum members ride here:

.

Want it to look like the above, but with my own rims.

Thanks!

Get your stock wheels powder coated black then get white decal pinstriping & apply to the wheel. Thats what I have done to mine and it looks great. Another option is to have a paint shop paint the time attack stripe on the wheel.

Thanks! Appreciate the advice! Will look around for some decal.

Where would I find it in USA? Will be there in a week!

Also what size/thickness? How would you apply it exactly circular

thanks!

Any custom vinyl shop would be able create a white pin stripe for you and possible install it too. Installation isn't too hard with some elbow grease.

Cheers

Good quality powder coaters should be able to do both, adding a white band to a black wheel. This is one of my bikes, all powder, the orange and blue are powder, as well as the white, black and silver number plate. There's more detail on the main logos, but you get the point.

LOVE the Gulf racing colors! You are obviously obsessed with nice bikes. Kudos to you. It used to be a passion of mine.

As for white time attack stripes, does anybody else think it makes it look like a whitewall tire, at a glance, especially with black powder coated wheels? Not meant as derogatory, just something I've thought nearly every time I've seen pics of white time attack on black wheels.

Thanks, nice catch on Gulf, I had to dig up the RAL #'s for each of the colors, but I love the results.

I like the white striping more than the whole lip being white. If you could get a good powder coater or painter to put the ring in the middle lip, rather than all the way on the edge, I think that might be a nice change. Ever since the E34 M5 Throwing Star wheels, I find myself liking the faux whitewall look.

Provided you don't want the ring to be on the outer most edge, you could probably get the wheels powder coated and have the ring painted on, but I'd be nervous each time you had a tire mounted/unmounted. I powdercoated my M Coupe wheels a dark grey and they've held up great through multiple tires, something the stock finish certainly didn't do. Good luck!

it's nice to see other people who also share a touch of OCD. You both have me beat, in a good way. Kudos.

I'm curious, did you end up getting this done? I have a set of, factory black, 261s waiting at the dealership for me to put some summer tires on. (I bought them with the car, anticipating using the stock wheels as my winter wheels) I think an accent strip like that (vinyl is fine I guess) would look cool. Post some photos if you did, please.

Sup Zag!

Not yet!, waiting on the powder coating/spraying black of the rims first..

Still trying to decide which method to go.

hmm i'm not sure how i'm gonna do a vinyl time attack ring on these 261's though because of the lack of lip as mentioned above.. but i will have a look into it and speak to my local vinyl guys and see if we can come up with anything! And let you guys know here of course with pics
