BMW marketing may be reading old tea leaves. The market for SUVs is drying up and with premium at $4/gallon, it isn't coming back. The big question is whether the price of gas changes perceptions to such a degree that people associate cross overs with low fuel efficiency. It may soon be just as important for the car to look economical. I think the main point of cross overs was to look like SUVs, but drive like cars.
