Help needed. CF spoiler fitment issues

While test fitting my spoiler I ran into some unexpected issues. It is a bit difficult to describe and even more difficult to take a picture of, but here is my issue. On the leading edge of the spoiler where the trunk transitions into the spoiler there is an area where the edge is thicker than the rest of the spoiler. This starts about 3/4" in from the corner as is about 1 3/4" long and a little more than 1/16" thicker than the rest of the leading edge. The other corner has a similar issue. At first this seemed like it would be a non issue but as I started to test fit I noticed two problems this was going to cause.

1. I can't make the spoiler sit flush against the trunk lid. Even when I clamp the corner and put firm pressure on the other side of the thick spot there is some gap. This gap will be a lot worse if I glued it and was not able to hold it down the whole time.
2. It might be minor but even if I can get it to sit flush with no gaps, it is going to look odd having a nice smooth transition between the trunk and spoiler except for a flat spot on each corner.

This part is an official BMW part and was ordered from a reputable vendor I found here on 1addicts so I think this is normal or a manufacture defect.

My question for you guys, is this normal? Everything I read said the OEM fitment was great. I don't recall anybody mentioning having this issue or having to make any sort of adjustments to make the spoiler fit. Could I very carefully sand this down and still have it look right? Or are my expectations for the finished product a little unrealistic? Any help or guidance on this would be greatly appreciated, maybe even post some close up pics of yours? I hope the pics I am posting on here help to visualize what I am talking about.

Anybody got any ideas? Should I try and return it or just try to sand it to make it fit?

Return it! fitment will be 100% with an original BMW parts dont settle for anything less

Yep, it needs to be returned and claimed with BMW as it does look defective.

Send it back. From what I can tell by the pics it looks messed up.

Thanks for the advice guys! I am going to try and send it back for replacement, I will let you know how it turns out. Something I forgot to mention in the first post, there was some plastic film that was stuck to the underside of the spoiler. I thought it may be remnants of the barrier between the spoiler and the mold? It was orange and about the consistency of a garbage bag (see pic below). Most of it peeled right off but there was some that was persistent and would need to be sanded off. Did anybody else experience this with their's?
