I have a 2008 128i with halogen lights (no xenon), so I'm just curious why you got xenon blackline lights? Aren't xenon blackline taillights more expensive? And did you need any coding or did you just PnP and the lights just worked? Thanks!

Xenon Blacklines have the two bars that light up on their own, whereas the halogen blacklines just have the two bars for cosmetic appearance.

Xenon Blacklines are the ones that have the part code end with a 2 and is the expensive model.
they are the ones everyone is buying.

Everyone with halogen was afraid that its not PnP (because halogen e87/e81 hatchbacks need a module). However, this could be true for 2012 128i that come with halogen version regular red LCI( all plastic no cool lights).

In any case, all evidence suggests that these are PnP for all e82/e88 and if you like regular LCI but have the pre-2011/2 lights, then these are a more dramatic change which makes the car appear new.

What's the significance of the part code end with a 2?
Sorry if I'm bugging you but I just want to make sure I get the right one.. I don't have xenon, so I assumed I need to get the non-xenon blacklines, but you got the xenon one. Don't they both look the same? Are there differences?

That marks the Highline/Xenon version with LED glow of Blackline LCI & costs more because of that.

I do not have Xenon either, it is PnP for i think all halogen 128i, with the rare chnace that its a 2012 model and has the basic LCI tail, without the LED

When the car is off or your parking lights/corners are off( switch position 3) they look the same.

But, they glow like all the images in this thread with the double "wings" LED glow when the system is on Auto, that 0 symbol( position 2) or full light system( position 4) --> this may depend on the coding that BMW put in your car for your region

here is direct link:
http://www.schmiedmann.com/1_series/...e2.htm#1944982

you want these ones:
Taillights black-line original BMW
Product number: 63-21-2-225-282
All models with xenon and/or adaptive headlights

Ahhh, so there IS cosmetic difference. My guess is with right coding, the standard ones will function the same as the xenon ones, but I'm probably just going to get the xenon ones. Thanks much!

Sorry didnt mean to confuse you, get the Xenon version, the standard one cannot be made to look like xenon with coding or hacking.

THERE IS NO CODING needed for Xenon version to work on Halogen or other e82.

I said coding about ONLY light switch( things like DRL on all the time or no DRL, or LED on all the time or NO led. ) this is from the factory and independent of which taillights u have.
