i installed the intake and havent had a problem with it. The only noise i hear is the turbo spooling up then blow off.
I'm pretty sure the service engine soon is directly related to the miles or hours on the vehicle. However, later in the thread you said the CHECK engine light was on. Is your Service Engine AND Check Engine on? When I installed mine i started to tighten the clamp down and the intake tube wasnt compltely in the coupler (on the bottom side) Are you sure you don't have any leaks where its coupled? |

I did get it sorted. I should have updated the thread. It turned out to be a rear main seal! Pretty major but there was a service bulletin for it. It was replaced under warranty. Just weird that it started at exactly the same time I replaced the intake.

For what it is worth, I've had the BMS intake on for over 2k miles with no problems. But my wife hates the sounds and turns up the radio when she is in it...I don't mind the extra sound.

I did recently put it back on for a car show but I'm not a huge fan. My air intake temps never go belong 100 degrees with it on, even with an ETS intercooler. It does sound really nice though. I miss the sound when I put the stock intake back on.

I had the BMS intake on mine too and had the SES light come on shortly after install. I took it to my mechanic and did a diagnostic and it was the air/fuel mixture. He reset it and a short while later it came on again when I put my foot into it. I took the intake off and I've had no problem since. I think the MAF sensor has a poor fit to the intake as compared to the stock part causing it to suck air. My mechanic agreed. It has been sold since.

You bumped a thread from 2012 to complain because you received a tube with a cross threaded bolt? BMS provides a lifetime warranty on the intake tubes. Just shoot them a photo of the issue and they will swap the tube out for you.
The intake should have included a small metal bracket that clips to the factory airbox bottom. I've never heard of any issues with the mounting once installed. Mike Last edited by Mike@N54Tuning.com; 08-20-2014 at 06:07 AM.. |
