Shhh....I'll let you know soon.

Gotta love their customer service. I paid on Friday night, the thing left Texas the same day and it's already in Rydalmere right now, might even get it tomorrow.

It has arrived

It has arrived! It might just be the very first one in Australia.

Why did I choose this? Primarily because it's a Cobb tuning product (to match my Cobb tuned maps), great customer service (answer all my questions promptly and quick delivery). Secondarily, because it has all the features I want: efficient bar and plate design, 60% greater core volume, stepped design to increase frontal surface area, cast aluminium end tanks, easy Installation with no modification required.

It should be a nice match for the Cobb Stage 1+ FMIC Aggressive ST map.

Off to Advan shortly.

Are there any differences between the Cobb FMIC and the Helix FMIC? From the pictures it looks pretty much the same?

Hi Zen, I don't think there is anything different. The Cobb FMIC does look the same as Helix and Wagner with the stepped design. I was looking at getting Helix but I am still waiting for their reply to my email so go figure why I haven't bought Helix.

Hah, fair enough. Well I hope you will enjoy your new FMIC, hopefully a mini review once you have it install.

FMIC installed today.

Pete @ Advan Performance centre was very kind to install the new Cobb FMIC for me today with short notice. His team did a great job installing it. We did trim a small strip off the shroud and it took less than an hour to complete.

We were very impressed with the quality and the finish of the Cobb FMIC.

For a bit of fun, take a look: installation of a FMIC in one minute!

Looks great Quang, I'm really interested to hear what you think and if you can feel a difference.

Thanks Ian for the youtube embedding.

It has been raining all day in Sydney and I wouldn't dare giving it full bean yet. So performance wise, nothing is noticeable. The only observation so far is the AIT, my P3 gauge is telling me the temp is lower than before in normal suburban driving by about 5 degrees. The outside air temp was around 18 degrees today and it was running about mid 40 degrees before installation and it has been in the high 30 after installation, most driving was in moderate traffic today.

I am planning to do another 2000kms then go back for an intermediate oil change at 7000kms, on the same day I will hop it on the dyno.

Lightbulb Discreet but a must mod

There was something about the signal indicator lights that I didn't like, the amber globe. Well not anymore!
I like this discreet mod and I think it's a must for any 1M AW or BSM.

The photos in sequence:
1. stock oem globe,
2. replaced globe,
3. amber light when on and legal,
4. the new globe itself.

Had these invisible bulbs in one of the M3s for many years. They really look a lot cleaner without the "egg yolk" effect

hey Quang, you should consider the 5000k angels. IMO 6500k is a little bluish for the 1M/LCI DRL.
