08 29k, no rattle but a small and quick "click" noise at the top of 2nd gear, only under light throttle...sounds as if I just ran over a dry leaf and can't hear it if the top is up (doesn't seem to effect driving or performance, no codes etc). But so far the turbos have held up fine, fingers crossed.

Is there an aftermarket wastegate replacement? When my wastegates/turbos fail I don't plan on going OEM.

2008 with intake and tune for most of my miles, DP and FMIC recently added. No rattling yet, but have less then 18k on the car right now. Fully expect to hear this at some time in the future.

I had the rattle, and they adjusted the actuators and loaded software. That was all. Threw in the JB4 alpha tune for e85 and have been beating it around town and haven't had any issues that weren't due to my own stupidity

14,500 miles Stock I hear a rattle when I switch off the ignition. I am bringing it to the dealer tomorrow. I wasn't aware of it till I brought to a local tune shop to have short shifter installed. The guy mentioned it to me. Thanks solo motorsports! Will let you guys know what the dealer says. |

^First, Is it a rattle you hear at ignition turn off or more of a "click". I have a single "click" at turn off, and has been that way since I took possesion of the car (23K miles). Car has 31K now. No rattle or strange noises besides the click.
2008 31K PPK1 No rattle

As a previous 335i owner I've had the dreaded rattle. It sounds like a rattle snake on start up (rattles constantly on cold start, rattles briefly on warm start as revs drop down after ignition), deceleration and rev drop when revving at idle. No performance issues at all, just a horrid rattle that makes your luxury car sound broken and cheap. Anything else is not WG rattle.
Now, those of you who hear a rattle on start up, if it's not the above then it is most likely your exhaust flapper. I did the golf tee mod and this disappeared. Those of you who hear a rattle on switch off, it may well be the DMF slowing down rapidly and clattering. This is in fact completely normal. |

32K yes/no/maybe so yes and I will be getting new turbos soon My symptoms were a slight lag with a bit of ticking with an upshift that hit the next gear below 2k revs and random ticking at idle with no load(i.e. at a stop light). These symptoms got consistently worse over time. |

42K Right after I had my AR Downpipes installed the rattle started. It was awful and sounded like a mariachi band was coming down the road after I let off the throttle. After living with it for a couple of days and not doing anything the rattle just stopped. I'm at 46K now and haven't heard it since but I dont know if I should be worried that it disappeared as quickly as it came?
