Fronts a little too wide.
Hey everyone, just a few hiccups.
I bought some mv2 18" 5x120 alloy wheels to fit onto my 1 series hatchback 2009. the fitment is; front 18x8jj 40 offset rear 18x8.5jj 45 offset tyres are; 235/40/18 front 255/35/18 rear the rear fit on very well and fine… the front however is catching a little on the arch. (i think its the strut) is there anything i can do about this to make them fit? are spacers an option? i really don't want to have to sell them on as they look great on the car. |

If you only want an extra 4mm fender clearance its possible to remove the alignment pins on the strut top hats. It changes the wheel alignment to give a slight negative camber. There are various ways to remove them, but on my 2009 e90 they needed to be drilled out (very carefully).
I guess the its the 235 tire width that is causing the trouble. If you had 225/40/18, I doubt it would happen. |

Well, they are larger diameter than stock. Maybe should have gone with a 245/35/18.
Stock: 215/40ZR18 24.8" 235's: 235/40ZR18 25.4" 245's: 245/35ZR18 24.8" |

So in other words I cannot put a 235/40/18 on the fronts? The specs are standard 261m wheels 7.5j et 47 if I recall well. I know it will bulge a bit but I think it's still a better setup than 225/255
