HELP - Alufelgen CS7 + Michelin PSS - any rub issues I should worry about?

About to pull the trigger on a set of Alufelgen CS7's, 18x8 and 18x9, mounted with Michelin PSS 225/40 and 255/35.

I have a bone stock 2012 135i with M Sport.

Do I have any rub issues to be concerned about?

Thanks for the input !

Thanks ! I know you have these wheels for sale and I PM'd you earlier.

I read that the PSS's run a little wide, hence my question.

Appreciate the feedback.

it'll be close, but my guess is you'll get no rubbing. if you do get any, it would be very minor. if you lower the car a little you'll get even closer, but i'd still guess no rubbing.

Talked to Charles at VMR (great guy, btw). He said that a few customers have mentioned minor rubbing on 135i's with the 255 PSS's. After checking the specs, they run a 9.5" tread with, which is closer to a 265 is some other tires.

i imagine VMR is speaking for their own wheels, not alufelgens. the VMR wheels have 1/2" more width, and 3mm lower (or 2mm higher) offset (depending on whether we're talking about their 45 or 50mm offsets). taken out of context, it's hard to interpret that. i'd still guess that especially at stock height, you'll get no rubbing.

He was talking 50mm offset on a 9.5 wheel. The Alflugen is 48mm on an 9.0 inch. Help me understand these numbers, please. Just learning about offsets, etc., and what implications this would have on a wider tire like the PSS.

Many thanks.

difference in offset: the centerline of your wheels would be 2mm per side further "outboard" than the VMRs (50mm vs. 48mm offset). this means that the tread portion of your tire will sit 2mm closer to the fender than with VMR.

difference in width: half an inch in the wheel means the lip of the VMR wheel will stretch the tire out 6.35mm wider at the bead inboard AND outboard.

taking these together: the tread (outer surface and corners) of your tire will be 2mm closer to the fender, but the lip of your wheel will be 4.35mm further from the fender when comparing to a 9.5 et50mm wheel. depending on where along the sidewall these customers were seeing rubbing could mean different things for you...

i'll still stick with my guess that at stock height you won;t have issues. you can take some amount of comfort in that response too, as i'm probably the last guy on this forum who will justify wheels with low offsets.

Decision made, CS7's with PSS, 225-40-18 front, 255-35-18 rear. Going to see both the silver and hyper black tomorrow. Leaning towards hyper blacks. Got Discount Tire down to $1050 mounted for the PSS's. Not quite as good as a previous post had indicated, but not bad.
