Performance Suspension Worth It?
I have looked a some of the suspension threads and didn't really find the answer to this question. Does the Performance Suspension make a difference when compared to a M-Sport car? When I looked it lowers the car an additional 10mm or less than .4". When I was looking into this (I don't have a 1-series) I was looking at a 128.
When would they install this if it was purchased with the car? Also, I was looking on the site and I didn't see a performance short shift kit - at least not for the 128. Does one exist? |

Seems I remember reading on one of these posts that when the PS is ordered for new car the install is done at the port of entry center along with the other prep work.

What is your goal with changing the suspension? Are you doing it for a drop to improve the looks, do you want better handling, do you track your car etc?
Bottom line is there are better options if you go aftermarket and they are cheaper as well but with the Performance Suspension you retain your warranty and it's a good compromise for street/track use. In answer to your question, it is much better than M-Sport. M-Sport is standard here in Australia for the 135i. |

There is a SSK available for the 128 and pre-2011 135s. Got to www.bmwusa.com and click on "Accessories" and you can search by model year and vehicle. Or go to www.getbmwparts.com and you can search the Performance catalog by vehicle and see real-world prices (not just MSRP).

It honestly depends on what your end goals are. For some of our customers that want a bit more flexibility in terms of ride height adjustment, we recommend just going with coilovers. Some of the new offerings are very affordable and rival the cost of the PS items, yet have additional features to offer. |

I agree you need to be more specific in your goals. I have the Performance Suspension and I'm very happy with it. I specifically did not want a big drop, have no need for adjustability, and wanted a slightly firmer more controlled ride. With the suspension and a good alignment the car is a great DD that you can use on the track. The car should have came with the Performance Suspension on the sport models. You can read this thread for my full review.
