Gintani Exhaust for N54

Does anyone know where I can get a Gintani down pipe back exhaust for my N54?

I've been quoted $4,000 for full exhaust, downpipes back. I think this is a wee bit much for an exhaust.

Anyone know of a way to get Gintani mid pipes back for a better price?

Help!!!! thx!!

Why would you want to spend that much on an exhaust anyways? I can't really justify it. You could probably swap your suspension with the M3 kit and get coils for that price.

Easily..

obviously the answer here is DONT get that exhaust. There are plenty other ones that are just as fine if not more. I have the maddad whisper axleback and resonated midpipes. All together cost me around $1100 i think, never once looked back, sounds awesome n looks great.

EDIT: what he said^^

Well, I'd just suggest you look at something like Berk, or some other brand. You don't need to have a fancy name to make great exhausts.

$200 for raceland DPs, $560 for a magnaflow axleback, and $50 to have an exhaust shop to cut cats and weld straight pipe in their place. $800 for tbe ain't, some will complain about the racelands, but whatever...

Honestly the RaceLands don't look too bad. They stat they are TIG welded, which it appears to be so. They are SS, and they have a warranty. If you don't like it, send it back and get your money back. They look like every other DP out there(go figure), and I'm sure it flows just as well. No one will see the damn thing ever unless it's on a rack, and they don't have to stay pretty because again, no one will see them and they are underneath the car. Did I mention you can take them back if you don't like them?

Am I saying I'd get one, no. But if you want to budget things out, this is a great deal. They don't even make one for the N55 so I wouldn't even be able to consider it anyways.

I completely agree with you and I've got a set. Yet to install though, that'll be the true test of quality but as of right now I honestly can't figure out why a lot of people complain about em or why some will spend a grand for a pair. Then it usually turns out they've never seen 'em in person, much less actually tried em out. Hell, if they kept everything the same and just changed the name and charged $650 a set I think we'll start to hear about how they're a decent set lol

I'm trying to stay away from DPs until after warranty is up. Ive read about issues on limp mode, turbo spool issues, etc. I'm not giving any credit to these posts, just don't want to risk anything ATM.

Back to my original topic. I want the Gintani because it's the only exhaust I've heard that sounds like an exhaust, rather than a hightened/enhanced engine growl. Most 135i exhaust videos sound like a revving engine with minimal exhaust note in the background. If you disagree, post a video to prove me wrong. I'd thank you for it!

Either way, Only a retard (or someone who should be making a large charitable donation!!!) spends $4,000 for some stainless piping. It's ridiculous! (I'd spend $2,000 though )

Anyone try an exhaust shop to fab up some straight through mid pipes on stock muffler?

Comments, flames, ideas or GF pics are more than welcome!!

I have the magnaflow axle back and I really like it, and $560 its a steal. It has a really nice tone and isn't too loud or too quiet. No video will really give you a good idea of how an exhaust will sound. Either you'll have to find someone with the exhaust you want and listen to it in person, or take a chance and just order one. I tried to get a local shop to cut the cats out of my midpipe, but the law in VA says if a shop is caught doing that then they lose their license and no-one will chance it. I've seen many ppl that have had this done however and they claim its a nice bump in volume and tone.

I feel the same way about most of the exhausts for the 135i, so im After the Eissenman Race exhaust and the Meisterschaft GT.

They are of the most expensive, but I found thos are the ones who gives the car a sportier sound and not only MORE sound. I'll probably go with the Meisterschaft tough, since i want to get meth also and the eissenmans es 1 900 usd alone. The meisterschaft is somewhere about 1 200 usd.

The only real problem with the magnaflow is theyre made from lower grade SS than most others, hence the cheaper price, yada yada. Could easily rust and possibly degrade over time.

1. You should really take what you hear in a YouTube video with a grain of salt as they do no justice to actual sound, cabin noise, drone etc... You've got to hear in in real time and in person.

2. If you want a shop to make you one, it will run you a little over a grand if you go to a shop with a mandrel pipe bender and welds SS, not fence piping. You'll probably want to take a picture of an exhaust and have the Fab-tech mock up a similar design as the one you brought in. You'll have to select the muffler, etc.. While it sounds cool, it's never been tested, and I don't know what kind of real gains you'd get from it. I'd probably want a before and after dyno pull after the fact to see if you got your moneys worth.

God knows why the fuck you would want a shop fabricated exhaust for this car....

There are atleast 4-5 well known and very nice exhausts for this car, already made completely to spec for JUST this car for less than $1k...go with maddad or AA or something seriously..there are FAR more things to spend the higher dollars on for this car than an exhaust made by a shop thats prob never even seen a 1 series before

He mentioned going to a shop, so I told him what needed to be done. I would never do that myself because I'd rather have one with R&D, bolt-on affair, and is backed by a company willing to make it right if things go wrong. Plus, at that price, I'd get a TBE.

Wow that surely didn't post properly. I live on a city 800km/500 miles north of Calgary. I've seen 2 other 135i, so 'hearing' the exhaust isn't really an option. YouTube gives an idea, but not perfect.

Who makes TBE? I youtube'd it and no luck.

I misread what you were writing, and you said "fab up straight pipes on stock muffler"... Honestly, you should just get an exhaust and don't waste your time with an exhaust shop.

That kinda sucks, but it's awesome in a way because your car has some exclusivity over where you're from.

TBE isn't a brand, It means "Turbo Back Exhaust".

CP-E, Maddad, Active Autowerke, and Berk all make great systems. I have personally owned the Maddad and CP-E and LOVE the sound of the CP-E. If spending 4x that price helps you sleep at night then go for it but I've received many compliments on the CP-E for the note and would certainly not describe it as increased noise, it changes the tone completely.

Ahh I'm a retard!

I'll go midpipes and axle back for now, with downpipes coming later...I should read up more on the issues with downpipes...maybe I take the plunge prior to warranty being up...not sure!

So next item, I know HPF makes a single 3.5" downpipe back for our car (not available, is available, not available, is on their web site for sale, not available, ready in 4-6 weeks...I'm confused).

Who else does? They are the only ones I've found.
