Shadowline Trim
So I washed my car today and noticed that the shadowline trim around the doors had a weird purplish tint to it. Is there some specific product I should use when cleaning this area?:iono:

Did you use any type of wax on your car when washing? What kind of wash did you use and what was your general process? I don't think the trim should have a purple fade to it.

I noticed that too on my car. It is painted but it is different then the paint on the rest of the car. It has a different finish to it and (like yours) has a purple tint in some light. It is like comparing flat paint to semi-gloss. The shadowline has a different finish to it. I am washing like normal but when it comes to wax time I will do a small test spot first to make sure it turns out right.

The Shadow line trim seems to be a bit difficult to take care of. I went to a local place to get it done and I could see purple in it where the soap hit it. I clayed it (just because I was claying the whole car) and it came off fairly well, Then waxed it. Its back to normal but I have a feeling this will be a constant headache

I just had my car washed to and the shadow line trim looks all crazy. Almost like a oily residue on it that will not come off. I used to wax on it and it looks better but you can still see the swirly oil like look to it.

I haven't noticed that. How long have you guys who have noticed it had your 1's? Is there something that is wearing off after a certain period of time?

What it is is just a REALLY harsh soap/chemical they use at a touchless wash. Everytime I take it there it happens. I just used Jetseal 109 on it and was fairly aggressive putting it on. Meaning, i pressed hard and rubbed back and forth fast (kinda like a human buffer) It took it right out like a champ. It looks as good as the day I got it. THe only thing I am going to do (as stupid as it sounds) is put on masking tape before I take it to the place.

Use a sealant, much more protection than wax. I bet zaino clear seal alone would protect it from public carwashes of all types. (Of course, you might as well clear seal the whole car if you are doing the trim, and then going to the carwash becomes a waste of time/money..)

I think I will end up taxing the wax I used off with some dawn. Clay barring it then sealing it. Just the wax alone(turtle wax ice) made a world of difference but I am picky and can see it if I look for it.
