Got the call this morning. Totaled. There was significant hidden damage, such as to the dash and interior door trim. To replace the side panel requires also replacing the roof. The hit on the front wheel broke the strut, which went on to damage a bunch of other stuff.

I'll miss it.

Glad to hear and that you ended up ok. These cars seem to be pretty good at protecting occupants in accidents. Exciting time for you again, man. What're you gonna get? 1SMC would be my pick. Keep us posted!

Similar happened to me

Did this last year, flew off the track and into the trees at 60Mph, a large hole in the ground plus a tree brought me to a halt.

£15,000 worth of damage, new front, 2 wheels, new turbo, Intercooler, lights, passenger door , steering pump, new steering column, the frame was so buckled they put it on a jig.

Car was in the workshop for 2 months and the insurer honoured it, amazed they did...

If the frame is bent or the damages exceed the value of the car, its totalled. Either way, I hope your gap coverage is through BMW Financial.

It is, though I expect the insurance payout to be almost exactly the same as loan payoff. Looks like this year's holiday bonus will be a down payment.

Well, the new ones can be had at a deal, and they have some nice improvements.
Eh, I'd rather have the N54 engine and smaller mirrors, but there are a couple other changes I like. Another 135i is a top contender for replacement, but I'm also considering a Subaru STi or a Hyundai Genesis coupe (which is amazingly good for the money).

Look for a lightly used 2010 then. Should be a bunch out there to choose from.

Garage List
It's so inexpensive to fix these cars after a collision ( takes tongue out of cheek)

Man!
You can see my car in this thread.
It cost about $15300 to fix it- a really well done job but still.....

Probably the last update for this thread. Insurance offer was $3k above my loan payoff, and higher than I likely would have gotten if I tried to sell. I found it to be fair, even given my modifications, so I didn't argue much. This morning I collected the rest of my stuff from the dead one, mailed off the title to insurance, and placed an order for my 2011 135i, with almost the exact same options. Check the signature for details.

I lied, one more update. Insurance told me if I faxed over my invoice from Tire Rack, they'd give me some credit for the <1 month old tires I had on it. I had already thrown that away, so I emailed Tire Rack asking if they could send me another copy. They sent me a pdf of the invoice and had the copy in the mail the next day. Big props to Tire Rack on the customer service. I'd say I'll recommend them more now, but I already evangelize pretty hard, so I guess I'll just keep it up.

Quite. Nothing in there I really care for, and I'm not enamored of borrowing a car from family for that long.

I don't think this was meant to be an actual "game" thread lol you could make a new thread for your car, it would help to have more info but from what I can see it looks like repairs will include:
  • New bumper ($500)
  • Paint (#300)
  • New Side Skirt ($150)
  • Wheel (varies)
  • Tire (varies)
  • Suspension components (not possible to estimate)
  • Possibly oil radiator and other lower front end components ($500-$1000)

So I'd guess a nice repair bill but not totaled.

Thanks for the info Matt! I'm hoping it's not a total loss.. I love my car! Gotta consider 3 air bags went off too (driver, both passenger curtains).

Make a new thread and include details of what happened, we'll be able to give a better estimate then.
