I may be wrong, but I think it depends on what model you get.

These are on my UK 320D SE. I didn't ask for 'em! There are also lights in the bottom of the doors to guide the way.

they look awesome at night and generate quite a bit of light, then then softly go out when you lock the car. has to be one of the coolest simple touches on the car

It automatically comes on when you open you switch the engine off and open the doors and vice versa when you unlock the doors and get in.

DOOR HANDLE LIGHTS

Now that I have read US models get "puddle" lights ...(LED lights under the door handles) ..I am desperate to know before I go out and place my order, whether or not Canadian models have them too. There is nothing in their literature to suggest it but I am wondering if other Canadian owners might check and post here..... I LOVE the feature and from the picture I saw, it looks very cool !
Sometimes dealers dont even know !

In Europe these are standard on 6-cylinder models. If you have a 4-cylinder you need the lighting package and you need to upgrade the doorhandles to painted ones. (4-cylinders have standard black plastic ones).

there is a diy to make them flash with your turn signals. Not sure about them staying constantly on though.
