Kosei's wont fit without modification (i.e. fender roll, camber plates, or both), as they are a 8.5 width with a ET 40.

Yes they will...

I ran a 19" 8.5 et40 up front on stock suspension with ZERO rubbing. With the 9.5" did rub a bit in the rear

I've got a 8" width with ET 40 upfront now, and if not for -2* camber I would be very close to the fender on 225/45-17. There were several threads where people with the Kosei's said you would need some camber to fit it up front.

Also, according to the calculator:

4mm LESS clearance on the strut side, and the outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 22mm

Thats about .86 inch less clearance on the fender. This would be equivalent to running a 22mm spacer up front, and I've never heard of anyone running this big. I guess if the OP can give some info on availability of suspension or fender modifications or goals this may help with how aggressive he could go.

Thanks,

Tim

None of those wheels are in 1 series offsets. I have the bmw performance suspension and m3 front control arms. Could I get 225's on there without rubbing on 17x8 et 40?

I currently run 17x8 et40 in the front, also on the BMW Performance Suspension and M3 Control Arms. The only difference is that I have the Dinan Camber plates (about -.7*). I couldn't say for sure that they will fit with a little less camber, but I think that would fit. It is tight in the front, but I don't think the difference of .7* will make that setup rub. I run a 225/45-17 on the front on that wheel and I have never rubbed (no fender rolling) even weighted down over big dips.

That is still a bit more aggressive than stock, so maybe someone without camber plates but similar mods could say yes or no for sure. Using a ruler to see your clearance can also give you a ballpark estimate. Sorry I can't give a real conclusive answer, but on my car that tire/wheel combo works great with no rub.

Good Luck,

Tim

The rears are 8.5 et 44. I thought these would be conservative for an aftermarket wheel, but ended up being pushed farther towards the fender than I anticipated. I noticed some rubbing on big bumps and had to get my fenders just mildly rolled. I haven't had rubbing since. Part of my problem was a terrible body shop repair done by a BMW dealership, in which I basically had an additional quarter panel inside my wheel well rubbing on the tire which I found after installing the wheels. (Matt at Camber Toe was able to fix my rubbing problem!)

Ok what 17" wheel has a 44 offset. What size tire do you have in the rear?

Just by happenstance, I ended up with a frankenstein set up. I have SSR Type F 17x8 et 40 in the front, and TRMotorsports MT1 17x8.5 et 44 rear. The tires are 225/45F and 255/40R Hankook V12 Evo. A mismatched set-up is probably not for everyone, but these are just my summer wheels and I like the unique combination. Tirerack lists the OZ Allegerita as fitting the 1er and the front is the same as mine. You probably could even run a square set if you used a spacer in the rear. They do list 8.5 et 40 as fitting the car on tirerack so maybe you could squeeze it, but I still think its tight!

So do you think I could run a square 225 setup with the oz allegertia 17x8 with ps2's and not lose too much traction in the rear over stock and without rubbing on the bmw performance suspension.

I was consider the allegertias 17x8 et40 up front and 17x8.5 et40 rear. with a 225 245 setup maybe a 255 in the rear if I could fit it. Tired of running my street tires at autox

I know a guy whose running an 18x9 et40 which sticks out farther with 255s in the rear dropped on kw V3s and an aggressive roll, he rubs on heavy compressions.
