I'm just wondering who even allowed them to take the 1M out?

I didn't read all 6 pages of comments, but I hope someone pointed out that these kids were NOT BMW employees. They worked for a BMW dealership... BIG Difference.

What do you guys think happens to CPO cars. You dont even want to know. I feel bad for these guys. Losing their job is one thing, but a misdemeanor ? Better hope those attorneys dont come on this forum and see all the youtube street racing videos of owners lol.

Yes I am aware this car is new, but its just another car. Not my fault someone paid over sticker. There wasn't a sign in the window that said "this car has never been beat on" lmao. So what you think a reasonable new car condition should be, is subject to your own opinion. Such as the price of that car was subject to the dealers opinion of worth Marked up.
That's the main reason I'm glad I got rid of my 135i. I don't have to worry about some pricks joy riding my 650whp B5 S4 because I'll *never* take it to the dealer or anywhere else where it's out of my sight.

Huh? How is that different? When we take the car to the dealer.. the people we deal with ARE "BMW" employees as far as we're concerned. That's who we interface with. We still have a 06 325i that's at the dealer right now for the navigation not working (likely bad $2k ccc unit).

Well, then you would be wrong. They are NOT BMW employees. BMWNA has no control over who get's hired at dealerships. This is about Pacific BMW, the dealership, not about BMW the company.

Correct. Dealerships are a franchise if I'm not mistaken.

But still, they represent the BMW brand name.

+1 They call it corporate responsibility as most car dealerships are owned by corporations.

Finding a non-raped M car is like finding an extremely hot virgin female. Just remember, you're not the first. Get used to it.

But on another note, [insert a serious response here.]

I read the original thread, but with the police charge, i think they're saying aside from reckless driving, the dealer is claiming the two more or less "stole" the car off their lots?

Obviously, the dealer has positioned themselves to throw those 2 under the bus to preseve their image, they also have made the buyer of the car "whole" according to the original post. I give props for Pacific to distance themselves and right the whole situation.

I'm all for overblowing a situation to make an example and strike fear in dealership employees. But I wouldn't really even characterize it as "overblowing." It's really "setting an example by throwing the book at them."

The D.A. is actually doing the dealership and the BMW brand a favor by throwing those jerks under the bus. It's the most direct way to rebuilding consumer confidence.

Dealership employees will think twice next time they get a hankering to abuse an M.
