electrical failures?

Has anybody else had any electrical issues with their car?

just today, started in the afternoon with park distance control failure, and then a few hours later i notice a flicker in my headlights every now and then, air-conditioning inconsistently blowing, and cruise control failure warnings. at one point the car had a warning come up and say electrical failure something something, slow down carefully and do not continue journey!

looking for a little advice before i notify bmw tomorrow

+1 for battery when it's getting lower than 70% it shows you to go for a service resets clock and do other things like not working defroster etc...

With the car parked and NOT running a good battery should have AT LEAST 12.8 DCvolts. When the car is running... it should be over 13.5(ish) DCvolts.

You can also check for AC voltage across the battery (+/-) terminals. You should no more than 1 ACvolts if any. The presence of AC voltage means your alternator is not doing its job. Well actually the brushes(& regulator) inside the Alternator.

hey the problem turned out to be due to water getting into the rear PDC module on the rear right hand side (accessible close to the right rear tail light). i think if you let water run down your back window e.g. with a hose, some gets through the rubber lining between boot sill and taillight (visible if you open the boot up) no idea why its like, though i heard briefly mentioned by one guy that cars that had been detailed recently had this happen occasionally.

i got it replaced with warranty, although they tried to run me in circles at first since i had been rear ended at one point.

That was probably most likely the cause of the water entry. Your quite lucky they got you covered.

yeah they didn't want to either, but my shop had a relationship with the dealership and certified that when they replaced everything it was in 100% condition
