Hello all. Routes will be continuously fine tuned and updated. Sunday has been shortened but now includes the Hirnant Pass. The map links I have PMed to you all remain the same.

Hi all
It seems that the weekend of 22nd/23rd September is the most favourable. I think we should just confirm this as the final dates and now get on with organising travel arrangements!

22nd and 23rd it is. Let's fix it and start with hotel bookings. We should also not accept anyone else for the trip, as 8-10 cars is already quite a lot for the type of roads we will be going through.

Right guys, we have confirmed that the weekend of 22nd & 23rd September is final. This was the most popular weekend. Those that have selected this weekend please confirm by PM that you will be joining us.
Can you also let me know if you will be bringing someone else with you as I need to understand accommodation requirements for the Saturday night so that I can choose a suitable venue. Your quick response by Friday 20th July will be appreciated. Thanks

Just to reassure everyone that every effort will be taken for the planning of our driving route.
This is the level of detail I go into when I planned my trip to and around Norway late last year. Attachment 726753 Last edited by mlhj83; 09-18-2012 at 10:05 AM.. |

Again, all those with iDrive do not need to do any route planning, as I will send you the bmw nav file containing the route and waypoints and you can upload it via USB. Or, I can upload it for you when we meet on Friday night or Saturday morning. In the meantime, just look at the google maps link that I've sent you for a general idea. Please don't attempt to send any destination data from google maps to your iDrive as only the destination gets sent and not the route. Only BMW Routes website allows you to create and send an entire custom made route to your iDrive, but I'll be doing this for you. Those without iDrive, can either follow someone else with iDrive, or print the route out and get your passenger to help navigate. For those who are willing to go a step further and have Android, TomTom or Garmin, can find out below how to draw the route based on the google maps link I have sent you. For Android: Read thread For TomTom: http://www.tyretotravel.com For Garmin: http://www.garmin.com/uk/maps/trip-p...ware/basecamp/ For the interest of the general public, you can do the following with iDrive: Make and send entire custom made routes via: https://www.bmw-routes.com/uk/en/login.jsp Send destination only to iDrive Nav via google maps or bmw remote app: Last edited by mlhj83; 07-31-2012 at 09:48 AM.. |

Very sorry, it's now closed. There will be another one in the not too distant future. Have got a couple of ideas already, including an island with no speed limits.

Right chaps, I've just created an optional route for Sunday for those who have the time. It consists of 2 of my favourite roads that I frequent late at night. The midsection of the route consists of a long hilltop stretch with countless super-fast bends, and the latter part of the route is one frequented by all the reputable car mags, including Monkey Harris in his venerable RS 4.0, and veteran Needles.
