Koolman Thermostat

2008 135i

At approximately 88,xxx miles my water pump stopped working. I got a replacement pump and thermostat w/housing.

Pump came with new Al bolts and went in fine. Thermostat however would not fit properly. The smaller diameter fitting did not simply "snap" in and required a lot of force. The larger diameter clamp fitting would not go in completely. I felt if I continued to apply more force that it may crack the female fitting and/or elbow.

I ended up replacing only the water pump.

Overall, the gauge indicates slightly lower operating temp

I took some T-Stat measurements out of curiosity.
Oem Inlet OD - 38.40 mm
Oem Fitting - 45.68 mm

Koolman Inlet OD - 39.16 mm
Koolman Fitting - 46.20 mm

Just wanted to share, maybe save you the trouble. Also wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this. Were you able to get the T-Stat fittings connected?
