Question Extended Lug Bolts

Ive done a search couldnt find what i was looking for.

Im going to be using 5mm spacers in the rear and im just looking to get 35mm extended lug bolts.

Just seeing if anyone has a recommendation or if any of the vendors have something for me i dont need the spacers but the lug bolts.

THANKS!!

You should just get extended stud conversion. Then you can get any size spacer you want (usually up to 15mm) without having to use a certain bolt size. I have them and love them. This also allows you to choose from a large assortment of lugnuts. Open ended, closed ended, and pretty much any color from stock to neon chrome.

The set I picked up are from Vorschlag and came from Vivid Racing for little more than 100 bucks.

Oh yeah, just make sure you check the shape of your stock bolts to see if they are tapered or rounded before you choose a nut.

That is not true. You absolutely need extended lugs with a 5mm spacer if you're currently using the stock lugs.

Sure the stock lug will still thread on a few turns and look like they hold, but it's not the correct amount of thread engagement. You are at high risk of wheel bolt failure. the factory bolts are spec'ed so short there is almost zero extra thread material coming out the backside. If you're using aftermarket wheels, you're also at risk of that wheel being spec'ed with a thicker mounting pad which also robs from the thread engagement. That can be ok with stock lugs, but combined with a spacer, you're in trouble.

You don't want your wheel falling off and rolling past you to save $20-30 bucks

I was gonna say the same thing. I was told even 3mm is pushing it. And being an aircraft mechanic, I know that we require at least 2 threads showing after the locking hardware. Makes sense just to do a lug conversion and never have to worry.

Generally you want the same length of engagement, as the width of the fastener at the
VERY minimum.

i agree with JZ, you don't need extended lugs for only a 5mm spacer...

I've done it before and done a lot of research as well, but it doesn't really matter. Spend the $50 and get the extended lugs. What do I care?

5mm is fine guys!

I got the apex lug stud conversion, black lugs with chrone lugs. Looks nice with my flat black arc-8's.
