I would love to buy the 1 series coupe in crimson red but have some reservations. Has anybody bought the CR and then fell out of love with the colour after some time?

Also, has anybody experienced extreme fading of the colour over time or other “wear” on the colour, more so then other colours?

Basically, do you still feel the same about the colour choice after a period of time and do you have the same excitement etc?

If I buy with my heart it will be CR but my head says perhaps alpine white is more practical and the “safe” colour you can not go wrong with.

I went from TiAg, to Sap. Black, to Alpine White, to CR.... I like my CR but Alpine is still my favorite by far. The CR is not as hard as black to maintain, but swirls do show up whereas AW was the easiest color to maintain. My next car will be white, I miss it. The Hellrot on the e36s stands the test of time, a little hard w/ the 1er to know it's longevity, but if it is anything like the Hellrot it is going to be very hard to get it to fade. My brother's 95 hellrot looks as good as my 09 CR.

I've only had my 1er about 3 weeks, but I don't regret the color at all. In fact, it's one of my favorite things about the car. Shortly after I placed the order I tried to switch to a LeMans Blue M-Sport, but after a few days we heard back from the factory that it was too late to make changes. I was a little bummed for a bit, but now I'm SO glad I got the car that was my first instinct. The color is absolutely phenomenal. Because it's a flat, non-metallic paint, I think it probably shows swirls easier, but I see just see it as an excuse to take better care of my paint! Go to autopia.org if you want to learn all about detailing and paint protection - I just saw a 20+ year old Porsche with original Guards Red paint that literally looked like showroom quality. Anyway, I'm kind of rambling - but I really think Crimson is an underrated color on the 1er. It's one of the most different, and it seems that very few people choose it, which is fine by me.

HDR Madness!

2 years old and still makes me smile...

This is an HDR shot - playing around with a Canon 7D and Hydra. The 135 has Zaino CS and Mother's Carnauba on it

Follow your heart this time around... you will not regret it! This is the first red car I've owned, and probably will be the last as I fear I'll soon be too old to pull off such a bold color. But until the time comes for me to buy another car, I'll be loving every minute of driving this beautiful red car. I too was going to go with AW at first, but I just couldn't pass up the gorgeous CR on an equally gorgeous car. I'm so glad I took a chance on the red. No other color in my opinion draws as much positive attention to the 135i as crimson, and everyone who has commented on my car, even non-car people (the majority of people) have complimented the color.

Often when I get out of my car and walk away, I find myself looking back, mesmerized by just how visually stunningly it looks. White, although very nice, would never have that same effect.

Simply put, crimson red looks SMOKIN' HOT on the 1
series.

I'll second that.... all of my cars have been some sort of red, except one that was grey. I chose grey because I thought it was a more "grown up" color, and ended up regretting it.

I am impressed with this color and plan to try it .But i have noticed that some car pics [infact the majority]seem to have a pinkish tint. Its difficult to explain but the link might show the exact color of crimson red

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_colors

On the other hand the most impressive ones[taken in bright sunlight] appear really impressive [more of a bright red].Are you guys post processing these photos and changing the hue to a more bright red color?
I am torn between AW and CR though i would love to have a metallic color for obvious reasons.I would appreciate some feedback

The car, in real life, definitely does not have a pink tint at all. I do post-process my photos, but only to try to achieve as realistic a look as possible.
