BMW Warranty

This is a very noob question, but I just wanted to know. I have a 2011 135i and it obviously still has warranty. If I add after market parts it would probably void the warranty for that part of the car. Is there any part of the car that has more leeway from getting the warranty voided and is there anything I can do to protect myself from voiding the warranty?
