Tire weight and performance
Can the weight of the tires ONLY (OEM rims) make a difference in a roll performance? I am looking at tires, the 245/35 weigh 22LBS where the 255/35 come in at 24LBS.
From a roll, will the extra weight be a a factor at all? This is just me being curious and cant find info anywhere online.... |

Get a non-rft version of that tire. See how much the unsprung mass decreases.

In theory, light weight tires will have more effect on performance than light weight wheels. The more weight on the outter most edge of a rotating object the more rotational inertia it has, hence more reluctant for that object to rotate. Is 2lb reduction in tire weight noticeable? I doubt it. Getting non run flat tire will reduce the weight, but also improve traction. Between the two added benefits of non run crap tires, I think you'll feel the improved traction more so than the reduced weight. just my $0.02.
