Weird wastegate rattle situation
I know, I know, another wastegate question, but this one is a little different. When I start my car after it has been sitting for about 6 hours, I have no rattle at all. If I happen to turn the car off and run into the store or something and jump back in and start the car, my wastegate rattles. This only happens when I have already started the car within the past few hours. I know its my wastegate for sure because if I put my JB4 on map 8 (Limp mode) the rattle stops completely. I bought a new wastegate and was going to throw it in but I wanted to ask you guys if you have any ideas of why it does that.

IDK Orero, I have not heard of this kind of rattle.
So... you turn off the car when its fully warmed up, and then let it sit parked for a few minutes, then start to drive and you hear the WG rattle? Or do you hear the rattle before you drive off ? Have you had the HPFP recall/SW update done? I know it kills the throttle response... but it also changes the WG duty cycle at idle and off idle. It really makes the injectors and WG run MUCH quieter. But I hated it for the crappy throttle response - so I went with a flash tune.

Car doesnt have to be warm. Even if I start it up and rev it (no ratttle) turn the car off and turn it right back on, rev it and it rattles. Im not sure if the SW update or HPFP recall or SW update were done. Took the car in for a checkup @ BMW and everything was fine right after Welt 2.0. Had the car for a year with no issues.

An easy way to tell IF your car has the SW update for the HPFP recall is... when you unlock the car... does the low fuel pressure pump start to cycle/buzz. ? IF it does, you have the HPFP recall SW update.
