Meth Elbow/Charge Pipe

I just ordered a meth elbow and when I went to install it I found something unexpected. It appears as if the charge pipe and the elbow are one piece and I need to cut off the stock elbow to install the meth elbow.

Am I seeing this correctly or do my eyes deceive me?

The elbow is connected with a bracket on the intercooler side but molded on as an extension of the charge pipe on the opposite side.

Are all N54's like this or just the 135i? Any insight would be great!

All May 09+ cars have a 1 piece charge pipe + elbow. For the cars built before this date the charge pipe and elbow were separate. Your best bet is to return the elbow and replace the entire unit with a 'long version' of the charge pipe you're looking for or tap/drill your own meth bung into the stock elbow.

I have attached a photo to show the difference in the ER Charge Pipes.

Remove the charge pipe and use a 11/32 drill bit then the 1/8-27 NPT tap (27 threads per inch)

After using the tap bit just screw in the cm10 nozzle directly into the elbow? No washers or seal of any kind?

Asofi, I ran into the same issue on mine. I ended up using the meth elbow I bought and cutting my stock charge pipe. Ended up needing to buy a longer piece of the tubing, but O'Reillys had it for only $5/foot and it was designed for a fuel system so the methanol won't hurt it. Works great, but I will need to buy another stock CP for whenever I dealer/sell it.
