Had the shop take a look.

Installed a single outlet instead of the dual tips and it fixed the issue.

Could of been the Y pipe in the dual tips. If enough air hit it at just the right angle it could create that noise.

Heh. I know a couple people with DTM tipped exhausts and theirs don't make that noise..

How is the muffler delete for daily driving? Any drone? I have the 135i muffler installed and while it sounds good, I'd love for it to be a little louder.

My question was aimed at the OP in regards to his muffler delete. I'm leaving the resonator since I've heard that gives a rasp tone which I don't want.

I'd assume removing any sort of silencer will give you rasp regardless, it is a BMW I6 at the end of the day.
I would much rather have nice sounding rasp than horrible drone from a muffler delete, not meaning any offence here.

It has no drone unless you bog the engine below 2k. At that point though you should be downshifting. There is some sound on acceleration, but once you get off the throttle it is nice and quiet.

My Z4M w/Rogue El Diablo Exhaust Cans are much louder than this muffler delete still...

Hearing this I'm even more tempted to try it. Worst case is I'll just put the muffler back on.

I can try to get some interior video if that helps?

Trust me, the drone is literally nothing. My Z4M drones unload heavy load and it wants to shake my head apart.

Muffler delete is nothing.

Videos would be nice. I've seen one video of a muffler delete but another can't hurt.

I just don't want it to drone or be obnoxiously loud which I think is neither.

You won't get that. The cabin is pretty silent and rejects the sound pretty good.

It isn't like a Z4M Coupe where the trunk is open to the cabin.

My car is going on a Dyno tomorrow, I'll try to get a video then and when I'm driving it

Thanks! I'm very interested to see what kind of power your car puts down.

Okay well I re-measured and it is actually 2.25" (the OD is 3")

This matches up the same with OEM Tips, which now begs the question...what changed?
Stock 128 pipes are 2.5". I know mine was. I made my pipes 3" and it gives a nice roaring sound to it. I suggest going with bigger piping so it doesn't suffocate your engine IMO

I got video when it was on the dyno but somehow it was corrupted and I couldn't play it back

I tried to strap a Go-Pro to the back of my car, but it doesn't really capture the sound too well. I'll see if I can get something else done.

I can say this, it is still more quiet than my Z4M with El Diablo exhausts, it really isn't loud at all

Does the muffler delete make the car sound raspy at all? I'm interested in removing my muffler.

I have stock headers, secondary cats, resonator but I deleted the muffler.

The tone and volume are fantastic! Zero drone whatsoever, highway cruising is perfectly manageable. It is louder when you're going slower (obviously) but not obnoxiously so.

The volume is so manageable that my luxury-oriented mom doesn't mind it.

I'm actually afraid for the day I get AA headers, because I don't want to re-tune the exhaust.

edit: aaaaaaaaaaand I just realized I replied to a 3 year old comment. Whoops.

Not really, the tone is quite nice.

Made an improved muffler delete vid with some of my boss' equipment (1080p 60fps camera with a suction cup mount)
