My trunk won't open...

uhm help?

I tried just touching it to open it with my key in my pocket (I have CA) and it didn't work,
so I hit the unlock button on the fob and tried opening it and still no luck,
then I went into the car and hit the trunk pop button,
nothing.

Any ideas before I call the dealer?
Am I just retarded and doing something wrong?
I can't remember the last time I tried to open the trunk besides when I got it.

Your doing everything right, take it to the dealer. The only time the trunk won't open is when the car is moving.

Look in your glovebox, near the top, there is a switch that sows locked and unlocked

Move it to unlocked

In locked/Valet mode the trunk wont open the normal ways

Open your glovebox and on the top left side there is a switch for your truck. I assumed you were able to open your truck before and now it just won't open.

in the boot, sorry trunk of your car? actually, so is mine!

hopefully it is only the valet switch and not ing more but in the unfortunate instance it is the mechanism i trust it wont take long to fix.

i hope you didnt find the trunk stuck closed with all your groceries in there after your shopping trip.

all the best.

Oh thank God that is what it was, thanks guys.
It must have been my friend when he was trying to get the dumb flashlight back in the slot.
I took just the manual out of the trunk and put it in the glovebox with the atlas, so it doesn't happen again lol.

Actually, I will spill my embarassing incident.
It was my first time going to get gas.
I was trying to figure out how to open my gas tank cover.
I spent at least 5 minutes looking around for a switch inside the car when I finally gave up and went to look in the manual that was in the trunk.
The trunk wouldn't work so I started flipping out and yanking at the trunk, then at the gas tank cover. Nothing was working.
I called my boyfriend and he checked with a sales associate (he works at Champion Audi) and the sale guy said that the 6 series you have to push on the gas tank cover.
I was like "ok that's odd" and I try it and sure enough, the thing just pops right open.
No buttons, yanking, or pulling involed, just a little push of a finger.
Yeah that is my embarassing gas story.

Oh, hmm I didn't think of that. The metal key is inside the fob correct? That will work even if the trunk is locked from the glovebox?

And thanks, I love the way the car looks at sunset.

Just another tip for anyone else who has trouble and searches this thread: I was able to open mine with the interior button, but I couldn't get the key button to work after trying several times and getting annoyed, I noticed that the manual said something about "hold the button for a longer time".

My Z4 opened with a very quick button push (similar to the door locks on the E90), so anyone switching from a different BMW may find they need to hold the button a little longer than they're used to.

Yup, the metal key from inside the fob works all the time :-) Just remember that it takes alot of pressure to turn it - it's not really made for regular use...so just use some muscle and it should pop :P

As an aside, I had completely forgotten about the flashlight in the glove compartment until I saw the pic above. Put it to use today while adjusting my headlight height (different post.)

To spare you from more possible embarrasing moments... if your car is locked, you can't open the gas door.
