TPMS inactive

Last week I had my tpms (oem), rims and tires replaced. The car's TPMS was reset. 2 days after the install the TPMS alarm came on saying TPMS INACTIVE. I brought the car back to the garage and the mechanics were able to read all 4 sensors within the correct freq. Its as if the car disabled the whole system.

Any advice, has this happened to anybody else before.

Did you switch your original sensors over to the new rims or are you using new sensors?

new sensors but they are OEM, i went to the dealership and they said if the tire shop was sloppy they could have damaged a sensor or an antenna. Discount tires has already told me they would cover the cost to fix the car.

Could they have put the incorrect frequency TPMS system on?

Sounds like they put the wrong version of sensor in, its the same frequency (433MHz) but is coded differently. It would show up as active to a code reader at the shop, but would not communicate with the cars system.

i had a sensor broken during mounting a while ago, and it came up as inactive, not low. it's a possibility.

So I went to the dealership and found out the wrong sensors are in the rims. The manager educated me on the difference between the 10 and 10+ TPMS. They run on the same freq but the later models don't have sensors in the wheel wells, the 10+ have a central unit.
From my understanding the discount tires put the 10 TPMS in my car rendering the system inactive.
