From a personal stand point, I've already been through this before with my E46. I had a mid-pipe made for the car by the muffler shop, and the sound was only OK. Then, I went with Super Sprint. I got bored of that quickly and went with straight pipes. After a few days of that (way too loud) I went with Dinan's muffler-only exhaust. The sound is almost perfect, could be a tad louder. Pricey, but I was guaranteed warranty from Dinan. Similar to the 128i exhaust. The BMW Performance one guarantees your warranty, and offers a nice sound addition without having drone while cruising

For the 135i: Is this an easy DIY or do you have to cut the OEM pipes in order to install the performance exhaust?

Are there any install instructions as I have my new Performance exhaust but not installed yet.
I'm not sure where exactly to cut the old pipes before resonator so it will all fit perfect. Why also some of the Performance exhausts tips stick out too much?

This is a good question. I had my BMW performance exhaust installed on my 128i by the performance center. On the stock bumper, it did not stick out too much. I thought maybe it was because of the bumper being different than the 135i.

Then I installed the aero kit. On the aero kit rear bumper, the exhaust still does NOT stick out too much. It looks perfect.

I think either the performance center knew what they were doing or this is only a problem on the 135i.

You must be referring to the PE for the 135. The PE for the 128 is axleback with a single straight cut a few inches before the first bend. Very easy install if you can get over the fact that you are sawzall-ing your beauty.

I had the PE exhaust installed on my 128 and its sounds absolutely fantastic! I did notice the pipes stuck out a bit far in the back...so I plasti dipped them matte black and now they look just as great as they sound!

Did you notice any areas around the cut and clamp that could possibly leak in the future? I bought a can of 2000 degree automotive primer to seal around the clamp, just in case. I receive mine Monday from the dealer

Maybe it's touching your rear bumper? Not secured tightly and slightly swings in hard corners?
