Gill, so you have a black with the stripe as well? I thought you only had the gray with a stripe. Can you check fitment issues on these wheels for a 135i with at least a 255 at the back and the widest possible tire at the front?

18x7.5" ET 45, 17.2 lbs. $279 per wheel* (Matte Grey, Black and Silver)
18x8.5" ET 48, 17.6 lbs. $289 per wheel* (Matte Grey, Black and Silver)

Grey and black will have the red stripe behind the spokes, Silver will not. Availabilities look like 6-26 for the striped versions and 7-1 for the silver version.

225/40/18 and 255/35/18 is the widest that will work without going outside the recommended rim widths.

Gill,
Silver = painted silver?
Is the red stripe painted on?
Is the stripe grooved?
Thanks in advance.

My neighbour has a 997turbo with grey wheels and it looks stunning. Just the color combo I am trying to achieve with AW. Strange as it may seem, I like these grey wheels so much, but the stripe so little, that I am actually considering buying the silver wheels and having them repainted, or buying the grey ones and painting over the stripe. Sound like a bit of a pain tho.

It would be a bit of a pain, but it can be done rather easily.

GTS-R New Information!

Ok, got another update on these wheels. We just received the first finished samples of these wheels (grey with stripe) and I'm able to answer a few lingering questions.

First of all the target weights came in just a bit off. The fronts are going to weigh 17.5lbs and the rears will weigh 18.3lbs. It's just a bit heavier than expected but nothing that I know of will touch it for the fitment at that price.

The BMW OE caps fit perfect! I was hoping this would be the case.

The ETA's reported earlier by the manufacturer look to still be accurate so everything appears to be right on schedule. Anything can change but this is a good sign.

The grove behind the wheel for the red stripe is semi-circular in the shape of it's indention. Think of it as a shallow moat about 1/4" deep.

We're going to shoot them in the photo studio on my car so I will have pictures of them to post soon. I don't have a date but you'll be the first to know when I do.

That's all for now!

Gill

Hmm interesting about the groove. Makes me think that a pinstriper with a steady hand could make that red stripe go away, and that the differences in surface angles would mask any slight color mismatching.

Yeah, but to do it right do you need to strip off a clear coat first? Seems like it would start to get tricky. Too bad they won't offer them stripeless. They would obviously save a few bucks by skipping the stripe step too.

The dreaded "delay" bug bit again today. These are now expected on 7-27.

Not the news people were looking for, I know.

Likely, yes. It still says 7-1 estimated but that could change very quickly to match the others.

It looks like I should probably retract that statement about the pictures. I've not yet heard of any openings to get this wheel photographed on my car.

I have no date on this as of now. I am sorry for any inconvenience.
