MadDad(TM) Dual-Outlet Quad: $1099

We're going to start an official thread for this product now since we've got a much better handle on some of the costing and general direction we're going in.

Basic Specs:

* Dual-Oulet Quad
* Same double walled tips being used on our recently completed Street Series exhaust system. Here is an example from our single outlet dual tip.

* Tip arrangement is a mirror of the OEM.
* You'll be able to order with the standard polished stainless steel double walled tips or have the tips black ceramic coated.
* This will be another "Street" series system not a Whisper series..which means its going to be heard, but not be obnoxoius. We'll be using the same sound tuning techniques we used on our recent single outlet dual tip just released(just now taking preorder for that one).
* Target price for the exhaust $1099(exhaust only) / $1499 with a dual outlet Carbon Fiber replacement valance

The project is still a couple months from completion but we know enough now that we can share the above details. We'll have our carbon fiber rear valance sample in late July. Once the valance arrives work on the exhaust itself will start.

I know a bunch of question will start to fload this thread..but fyi, as soon as I'm done updating a few posts I'm gone for vacation for a week and won't have any further posts till next Sunday/Monday night. Happy 4th of July.

Not that I'm aware of. I'm not sure how much of a performance benefit you'd get since you are full dual for almost 3/4 ths of the exhaust piping run. It's not until a couple feet before the axleback that it merges into 1 pipe. Exhaust temps/pressure will drop quite a bit that far back. If anything it might change the sound character a bit.

On a different note. Our valance is suppose to be done and shipping around the 20th of this month so we should be able to start work on the exhaust section very soon. I'll post pics of the valance as soon as it arrives.

Subscribed, looking forward to this! Will this be a full cat back or an axel back that will bolt up with the mad dad mid pipe?

We're still waiting on the rear valance, the samples got pushed back to end of this month.

The exhaust will be a bolt-on dual axleback, and you can add our existing MadDad resoanted midpipe for a complete setup anytime you wish. We're going to "assume" most guys are going to want the maximum "reasonable" sound level from just the axleback in order to give you the sound you want at the lowest possible cost, so this won't be a "Whisper" series. It will be based on the recent sound tuning we did on our Street series "muffler-less" style axleback. Using just custom internal baffles we've been able to tune the in-cabin sound to minimize the drone to levels even I can live with...and I'm pretty picky, while giving you an aggressive tone outside. Below are some sound bites for the new (single outlet) Street series. We're looking to keep the sound of the dual outlet quad about the same.

Some high rpm drive-by's

Cold Start, car was sitting for a week. Listen to the whole clip. After letting it warm up for just a minute I stop the car and restart, which gives you a little better indicator of what it really sounds like at normal idle.

Are these clips with mid pipes or with out?

Is there going to be an option for an FRP valance? Personally, I'm not really in to carbon.

Hi guys,

Some answers:

onefastman - those "Street" series clips are without midpipes..aka factory midpipes and factory downpipes still on the car...its all the axleback section creating the soundtrack.

Six Pot/onefastman - positively you will be able to order just the quad outlet axleback without a supplied diffuser/valance. We won't be able to gaurantee fitment with other diffusers/valances so just make sure what ever your plans are that you have an appropriate return policy if need be.

Feyd - An FRP will be an easy option since our Carbon fiber unit is carbon over FRP..so we can just supply a matte black or paint it if you like.

We are not going to start taking orders until we get a bit closer to having something to show and have our build cost fully in hand so we can set final prices.

Now the good news. Our sample valance is done. Its being held an extra week so that some other samples(non BMW related) can be shipped with it at the same time. The photo below is all I have at the moment and the angle isn't great since its shows the bottom side that would normally face the ground..but it will give you folks an idea. The top valance is a Carbon Fiber/FRP single outlet unit. I figured while they had the factory unit in hand I might as well have a single outlet Carbon valance made at the same time..

I'll post back when I get the dual outlet valance in hand and will post a few more close up pics before I send it off to our exhaust fabrication shop to start the rest of the work.

Very nice. Would love to see a perfomance version of the diffuser in carbon. Hope that isn't asking too much haha. Otherwise, still very nice. Props to you

Great news. When your ready to take pre-orders on a quad with ceramic black tips and FRP diffuser (assuming it will be in the 1300.00 range) please let me know.

I'll have the rear valances in my hands mid week. They were being held for a bit so we could have a couple other non BMW related samples shipped with them and they are on their way. After I snap a coulple of extra pics to post I'll be shipping the dual outlet version on to our fabrication shop and we'll try and coordinate getting in a car in for initial fitting as soon as we can. No ETA though. My experience with most stuff lately is that my ETA's are never accurate due to moving targets that are beyond my control. All I'll say for now is we're getting ready for the next stage, and that's a good thing. I'm excited because this is what I want on my own car. When we are done with this exhaust I feel we'll have the best range of offerings from any brand..with our existing Whispers series known for its oem refinement in the car cabin, the louder/more aggressive Street series shipping later this month, and finally the dual outlet..and all will work with our unique performance midpipe(2008-2010 models). The one that has resonators that look like cats .

Its been a busy BMW summer...
