Thumbs up BMW PS with Koni Yellow Review

After 200 miles of driving, I wanted to write a small/mini review of BMW performance springs with Koni Yellow Shocks. I was looking for something that had modest drop with improved handling. It's my daily driver and not a track car. After days of research and talking to other members on here, I've concluded the BMW PS and Koni yellows were the best option for me.

The car has transform! I'm able to take sharper, faster, and tighter turns. The body roll is eliminated (I also have m3 sway bar). On highways, going over bumps, the car is planted and doesn't feel jiggly. Ride isn't too hard, but I'm still running on run flats. I'll be getting my sumitomo tires on as soon as my VMR v710 arrives next week.

So far the drop on front is .25 inches and rears are .375 inches. I know some people experience no drop to .5 inches. I wouldn't want anything more than .5. And you can tell a difference before and after the suspension was done.
This car still has 200 or more miles before it settle for good and my new tires are going to be a little bit bigger 225/255 so the wheel gap will close up more.

Big thanks to Dan at United BMW for the springs/ bump stops and Harold at HP Auto Works. Got amazing deals on both of them.

Words can't explain how the handling is improved. Although, pretty much any suspension upgrade is better than stock.

I know we talked prior to your doing this and I'm so glad it worked out for you! I have felt the same about my similar upgrade (I mentioned to you that I used the Bilstien HD's) - seems that nothing upsets the car now, even at high speeds, it's a revelation. Enjoy your "new car"!

I want to do this setup.. where did you get the BMW springs? Can the springs be bought separately or do i need to purchase the entire suspension? I'm thinking of doing FSD's and the BMW yellow springs.

Thanks for your help on this. Knowing that others have mix and match spring/shocks with good results, makes it a little easier for me to decide.
So you still havent got a drop after the spring has settle? This could be important for those that are deciding between different shocks. Maybe the yellows offer modest drop over the blistens?

I got the springs from Dan at United BMW or you can go to getbmwparts.com. There both the cheapest out there. Make sure you get the bump stops for them. Stock bump stops are bigger and it won't work well with the performance springs. You'll need to provide them your vin so that you'll get the proper spring for your vehicle. You can order just springs (as fireflyer239 did also).

Koni FSD will work fine with the springs. I prefer Koni yellows because I can adjust how stiff/soft (depending on my driving mood )

I would also recommend getting a m3 sway bar. It's inexpensive and a must when you're upgrading the suspension.

Well i live in miami and the roads are dead straight so the only change in driving mood is faster in a straight line unless i go autox'n and that doesn't happen very often..

Well, after I swap my runflats to sumotomo htr2 225/255 the turns feel sloppy. I felt I could take the rfts 215/245 harder and these have a little floaty to it. Does anyone know if it's because the tires aren't worn in or should I adjust the shocks stiffer?

New tires need about 500 miles to break in. The mold release compound has to wear off and that can make the tires feel a little greasy until then.

Sorry for the late response. It feels much better now. The grip is tight on turns and I love the suspension set up. It does everything I want to do.

There are people that have done it and it's a great improvement. The biggest weakness of the factory suspension is the soft dampening.

The bumpstops were order along with the springs. You can get these from Dan at united BMW. Make sure the bumpstops are for performance springs. The bumpstops for stock is a little taller. To save some money, you can also cut it down.

When you guys are talking about the M3 sway bar, do you mean front or rear? How much stiffer than the stock 1 is it?

They mean the front M3 sway bar. You really can't or rather shouldn't change the rear sway bar - bc if you do... when you go hard into a turn, the sway bar will lift the inside (rear) wheel and you will just burn rubber on the exit as you power out. Most people agree to only do teh rear sway bar when you have an LSD.

Many guys replace the front sway bar with the M3 one. There are two versions... the e92 version or the slightly stiffer e93 (vert) version.

Generally conciseness is a thinker front sway bar will increase understeer. But many(over here) will argue the reverse.
