I think at higher speed tracks where that low end torque the 1m has won't help it that much against NA m3's that have to be wound all the way up to get the best out of them
i have a 1M but have yet to do a couple of really hot track days with the car. this is my one concern but i would like to think that the m team did address this when making the car. i guess we will find out sooner than later

Turbocharged cars are prone to running hotter than NA cars....it's just the nature of the beast. So, assuming the extra cooling features on the 1M lower the oil temps as we expect, they will always be higher than the temps of an NA inline 6 engine, such as the one found on the e46 m3. This does not mean that the engine will self-distruct or begin to deteriorate after hot laps - you can rest assured that BMW is aware of the side effects of forced induction and I'm positive they have compensated for this, otherwise they would not put an M badge on it. Let's just wait for people to start lapping them and leave all speculation aside.

Obviously they did the homework but with all BMW cars they do there homework and I've seen time after time that 335is can't do more than a couple of laps in Florida summer track conditions. I hope I'm wrong believe me cuz I want the 1m and the philosophy behind it to succed and continue(lighter more Spartan simple driver cars) so I pray that the 1m can hold up better than most turbo cars do nin the heat and can compete with NA engines otherwise it's jus a street car that is fun to drive. Which isn't a bad thing but it's gotta be able to lap as many times as the NA engines safely for me to really be sold. Cant wait to see them in the long run hope they fulfill the hype

I just finished a day of instructing and autoxing my VO 1m. Compared to my former Japan red M3, the 1m wins hands down. Size & newer technology matters. My e46 was a great car for 9 years; but for my purposes this car suites me.

I am a very happy old lady!!!!!

Does anyone in FL know what their average operating oil temp is if u run a little hard? I heard something crazy like 270 someone posted I think. If that's true I hope it holds up. Cuz I like that BMW will hopefully hav success with a smaller lighter more pure driving car and continue to make the 1m
