LUX LED's installed
Picked up my 2011 128i m-sport yesterday afternoon. Wasted no time. Already threw on Huper Optik ceramic tint 40% around and 80% on the front windshield. Also installed my painted grills and LUX LED angels. Sorry for the crappy pix. I couldn't back up anymore, I was against the wall and my car was blocked in and I didn't feel like playing musical cars.
Install of the LUX LED's was ok. I don't know how some of you can take the back cover out. I tried for 20 minutes trying to get the cover out to give me more room to work with. I finally gave up and installed the bulbs with the cover half on. Luckily I have small hands. I also spent another 10 minutes twisting the bulb the wrong way, trying to get it to lock in. Finally realized my mistake and it was all good. I had to move my airbox out of the way to install the driver's side. These were the revised edition so the power pack and fuse has to be outside of the headlight housing. The wires were cut and extended. The only thing that irked me was that the extension wires were all different lengths. I did my best to try and make them neat and bundle them with electrical tape. So I have four 24 gauge wires coming out the side of the back cover. The back cover had no problem closing. I'll take better pix next week, some in direct sunlight as well. Tomorrow I will be installing my clutch stop mod and rear fog light switch. Sorry, I only have Google's Picasa and for some reason I can't embed the pix so you'll have to go to my album to view the pix. http://picasaweb.google.com/10267105...eat=directlink |

thanks for the help. I tried using the link to: feature in Google's Picasa but I guess this forum didn't like that format (url ends with "=directlink")
Never donned on me to right-click the picture and copy the path. oh well. I think they will look pretty good in direct sunlight but I am not going to be surprised if they are still dimmer than the stock bulbs. Maybe 90% of the stocks brightness. Will try and get some day shots in today. |

5 feet 20 feet. Both are lit to my naked eye but camera is affected by angles. 50 feet. still visible. camera still affected by the angles. Overall I am happy with this option. My first choice would have been OSS but they do not make them for the 1er. |

is it the angle of the camera or is the camera just seeing the flicker from the ballasts that the eye can't discern?

correct - when the car is off there is about a 1/500 of a second that they flicker off, and that can only be picked up by a camera. to the naked eye they appears to be on all the time

mds82,
How hot does the aluminum heat sink get? I tried to put the wiring harness as far as way as possible from it but i'm sure after driving around for a while, things will start to shift around. |

i like the way the LUX's look like but i HATE wires that have to run through the covers, that's one of the reasons why i got rid of my HID setup. it just don't look clean especially on a $40K+ car...
