And RealOEM is 100% accurate.

HPAutowerks confirmed a CDV and at least they have been under the car.

Hold on... The E9x M3 does not have a CDV. It has a part that would appear to be a CDV, but it is hollow and does nothing. This has been confirmed a long time ago on m3post: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=153462

I don't think we can say for sure until someone takes off the "CDV" on the 1M and checks if it is hollow or actually has the internals to delay the clutch.

EDIT:

Ok, the part according to real oem is shared with all the other non-M cars, so it would appear that we have a functioning CDV in this car.

FYI... BMW uses different sized venturi's or jets in the CDV tube/part. So while different cars can have a different sized jet or venturi... they all are basically a CDV. The part numbers can be different too.

Even my buddies old e36 M3 had a (metal) CDV part/restrictor on the clutch hydraulic line. He took his out too.

And YES, RealOEM.com can be wrong sometimes... but for teh most part it is a good data base - created by BMW themselves. So it makes it a decent research tool.

The E90 m3 does have a CDV. Regardless of its hollow or not I removed mine and it makes a difference. I will be removing mine on the 1M also as soon as I take delivery.

Not to get off topic but what changes did you find when you removed it?

THe clutch delay valve helps reduce shock in the driveline by delaying the engagement of the clutch. The result is a slower engaging clutch. Once removed the clutch catches quicker. Its not a huge difference, but I def notice it. I have removed it my E36, E46 and E90 all with varying degress of results depending on how restricted each delay valve was.

+1. That is a great link - for anyone considering a CDV delete! Just goes to show you how every car BMW makes has this stupid CDV.

If it's stupid, then why is it installed by default?

Your left foot can be CDV. That's why people take it out. But BMW does not think your left foot can be CDV.

"If it's stupid, then why is it installed by default?"

To minimize warranty claims by people who can't drive a manual transmission well. My Z4 MC had one that was very annoying. The 1M doesn't seem to be as intrusive but it's there.

There is definitely something there that controls the input of the clutch.

Taking off is very smooth, however, 1st to 2nd gear is often a little bit of trouble.
