How important are the DISAS?

Last week I found that my large DISA failed, and so far I haven't replaced it yet, just removed the loose flap and pin from the manifold, but for some reason I feel the engine more responsive since then.

I'm thinking of leaving it as it is. Does it make any sense?

Interesting question... I wonder if there is a downside, either with fuel or maintenance?

The DISA valve is required and an integral part of the air intake system and design. If the large valve has failed chances are the small valve is bad too. Always good to replace them both if unknown age and miles on them.
