Garage List
2008 135i  [3.00]
I don't know, most of the wheels I want dont' come in the standard 1 sizes and no vendor will vouch for a nonstandard fit. Maybe more manufacturers will make them available or dealers will guarantee other sizes, but we seem to be on the short end of the early adapter stick. I would love to see the Velocity V710 or several others mentioned in this thread available in 1 sizes, but they aren't.

Me too. They're relatively cheap for what they are!

I'm in the process of buying these lightweight BBS RG-R forged in 17x8 front and 17x9 rear. They will be my summer/auto-x wheels when the OE RFTs wear out.

Did you end up buying these, Mike? How do they fit? Would 18s also fit?

Yes I did. But the runflats are only about 50% worn at 6000 miles, so it will most likely be a few more months before I buy new tires ant mount up the 17" BBS RG-R setup. I test fitted for brake caliper clearance on the front and it's close but adequate at about 3mm. The 17x8 et40 fronts should have no fitment issues at all with tire sizes up to 245x40, but the rear 17x9 et42 may have a limit of 255x40 or maybe only 245x40 without massaging the fender lip. We'll see.

Mike, please post up some pictures when you get these mounted. I would love to pick up a set of 18" RG-R's, but I'm concerned with the available offsets. They're some of the best all around wheels out there, IMO, considering weight, strength, quality, looks, etc.

I know, I re-read this entire thread last night looking for some inspiraton, and the BBS ones really stuck out as being really sweet -- RS-GT, RG-Rs, RXII, LM, etc...

The BBS site says they fit the 135i:
Part/Finish Size ET Wt. CB HW Kit Notes MSRP
RG762 - DSK 18 x 9 45 19.5 72.5 Included S 3 $800.00 RG762 - DBK 18 x 9 45 19.5 72.5 Included S 3 $800.00
They also list the RSGT and RXII, but not the LM.

Good find, but what worries me is that the front fitment has a low offset. If you look at the special notes, it says that it may require modification including, but not limited to, fender rolling.

From what I can tell, the rear 18x9 +45 should work in the rear just fine, but the 18x8.5 +38 in the front could be an issue.

I would love to see 18x8 up front and 18x9 in the rear with 225/255 tires. Should be a nice, square setup without any tire stretching, which I'm not a fan of. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

What's the difference between the BBS RGR and RS-GT? Is there one aside from one vs. two piece construction?

These are pretty common on Subies, Evos, etc. Supposed to be pretty light and high quality for a cast wheel. Not sure if they are making Euro offsets/bolt patterns, though...

I don't know, I think that might be too aggressive up front. At the very least, there wouldn't be a lot of tire on that wide of a rim, so it would be really stretched. I would rather wait for a 1 specific fitment. I'm sure it'll happen though. It just takes time, especially since our cars are so new.

Edit: Regarding your second post, the RG-R is a forged monoblock wheel, and the RS-GT is two piece w/ polished lip. RG-R = slightly lighter and more performance oriented, and the RS-GT = more bling and slightly higher weight.

subies, especially 06 plus, are using more and more aggressive width and offsets nowadays. So all we need are different bolt patterns which shouldn't be too hard. You can always have em drilled.
