After seeing all the real pics, seeing all these camou pics makes me throw up a little. BMW does take the award for being masters of disguise.

yeah, that looks nothing like the 135 we all have been looking @, its got a antenna on the trunk like a old 3 series, and it doesnt have the agressive body lines below the windows to the fenders. I guess it could be a 128...

Irv, seems you're getting a lot of first pics...
Anyway, thanks- there was an earlier, very bad quality pic-in LA area.
This is much better. Beach, sun, sand and the cabrio. Nice combo.

There were some pics posted on E90post the other day where an E92 M3 and a 1er hatch were spotted. The OP reported that a 1er coupe was "with" them but he couldn't get any pics of it--it was somewhere in CA, wonder if it was the same car?

Many people were wondering if that meant the US might be getting the hatch. I was under the impression that we were getting the coupe only....remember the 318ti? Yikes! That was probably the worst selling US-BMW ever....

Oh, and I agree--after seeing the end result, these test mules make me wanna

It's amazing just how generic the cabrio looks in these shots. It definitely does not bring out the "I want it now" feelings.

Yup - but look at the sides of that thing - they've added false panels. Al the dimples around the sidelight and around the opening hardware. They 'muled' it up good.

It looks alot like those spy shots that leaked on the internet a year ago.

I think the panels serve as a disguise and a secondary shell to protect the prototype/test car's body. Ive always wonderd what that was for. somebody wanna add there $.02 as well.

It's visual cloaking to keep the unwashed from noticing. We know better. ; -)

I wonder if this is the final answer to the "soft-top vs. folding hardtop" issue?

I'm not expecting a hardtop for the 1er anytime soon and frankly I think that the soft-top is a better choice. That said the future is a little murky.

After reading some comments here and at e90post.com I just wondered:

Do most of prospective BMW owners or actual owners think that the hatchback is that fugly?

I actually like VERY much the 3 door version.. Coupe wins hands down, but the 3 door version could be a possibility too for a daily driver, and seeing all those 5 door hatches makes me think if they want to start an A3 battle...

Greetings!

Although I prefer the coupe I like the 3 door hatch as well, particularly the M Sport version.
