Insurance cost?

Wonder how much it will cost to insure the car? I know it depends on one's driving record, location, etc. Just starting another topic to feed the 1addicts!

Anyways just wanted to make sure everyone looks into the cost, the 128i/135i might seem like a bargain but insurance cost might end up looking like

I highly doubt that insurance will look like , im sure that it will be less than my 2001 M3, or my last car 2006 Evo IX MR, so ill be extremely happy with the rates ill be getting from allstate :headbang::headbang::headbang:

I had similar concerns when I ordered my Z4 in 2003.
But my Z4 cost no more to insure than my wife's Saab 9-2X
It was actually less than my previous Pontiac Firebird ragtop..
So no worries... And besides --- it's only money...

I don't think insurance will be too bad as long as you're over 25 and don't live in a high car theft zip code and have no speeding tickets. It'll be a four seat coupe with a lot of airbags. I think the premium will be a bit cheaper than a 335i coupe per month.

Oh btw, Bender, where in Boston do you live? I'm going to be moving there middle of next year.

If all you punk young-un's would stop wreckin' yer MTV-Pimped BMW's, the insurance rates would go down. Durn kids, no respect for yer elders getting cheap insurance rates on hot BMW's these days! And get off my durn lawn!
[/end cane shaking]

The hopes of lower insurance rates is one of the reasons why I would like to own a 123d instead of a 135i. I'm guessing the collision/loss rate on 123d's would be much lower than for 135i's. I'd guess it would be the same for 128i's compared to 135i's.

Rates really won't get solidly established for a few years until the insurance bean-counters can collect some data. Until then I would expect most insurance companies would start at their 328i/335i coupe rates and adjust according to how much they think they can rip us off.

If you are worried about high theft areas be sure to stay clear of Roxbury. South Boston can be hard on cars.

Oh yeah I know about that, haha. I used to live in Brockton and my dad always said "Stay out of Roxbury, West Roxbury is fine, but Roxbury is bad".

Are you moving back to Brockton? It used to be a ok town but has been on the decline in the last few years not as bad as roxbury/dorchester but decline nonetheless.:frown:

I just hope the insurance quote down the road doesn't price me out of the 1. I have a good driving record and 25+, so we'll see:iono:

The Insurance on the 3 series isn't too bad..so it'll probably be similar to that. Probably even cheaper since it doesn't cost as much

Haha, no I'm not moving back to Brockton. I'll probably be moving to Brookline, somewhere in the Longwood area.

What kind of monthly are some of you guys paying right now for your cars? I'm paying a bit under $100 per month for my E36.

I know of a girl who's dad just bought her a 328i Hardtop Convertible (total of $60,000+ with all the options) (damn spoiled brat :bs: ) <--- (Thinking of a different word other than brat) and her insurance came out to $3,870 for six months. But that is with 3 at fault accidents and I believe a speeding ticket as well.

But in all seriousness, what kind of dad buys his daughter a $60,000 car? After she wrecked her first car? If she was my daughter, she'd better be happy that I'd even buy her a Kia Rio after what happened. She doesn't even know how to drive and yet drives like a maniac.

I always say this to people. There are two types of speeders. There are those who are able to safely drive at high speeds and still maintain complete control over their cars; and then there are the psycho nut cases who have no idea what they're doing but are driving fast just for the hell of it. The girl I mention above is of the latter type.

It will be up there, since its demographic will be mostly young croud and a lot of them will be wrecks (135s), since its rwd and high speed/bad weather dont mix. Also BMWs are on the expensive side to repair and 135 will be considered sporty model, ala WRX STi.

r u sure about that? my e92 335 doesn't fall into that category and costs less to insure than my cobalt ss(non-supercharged). granted the 135 is in reality sportier to drive than the 335 because of it's size but i'm not sure that it's a different type of car for insurance purposes.

I've gotten stupid tickets before....such as driving w/o my license, driving w/ a restricted (over 3 years ago), and just yesterday I got my FIRS SPEEDING ticket. I was doing 70 in a 45mph area. I was driving home from naples...in an empty road at noon....

Insurance is based on satety features and the class the car falls into .. With 7 airbags and an advanced braking system, depending on your agent, I wouldn't expect to pay more than your current bimmer .. plus, bmw is a luxury car .. with my 01 coupe, I only pay $115 a month on full coverage .. I'm guessing it will be right around the same .. I kno cause, I used to sell insurance.
