Are your going to lease, finance or cash?

Hey guys, you don't have to answer the question if it's too personal lol. But I was just going over some of the pricing options on the 3 series (just to play with the numbers) and it's cheaper to lease the vehicle than to purchase the vehicle which lead me to thinking which option I would take once the 135i comes. Anyone have any opinions? If I purchase the car, I'd probably want to keep it for 10 yrs or so. Who knows. Leasing also has its advantages as well.

Finance. Paying with cash is a horribly stupid thing to do, and leasing.. well lets say I dont want to basically "rent" a car long term.

Vornado is prejudiced against leasing. Thinks it's only for people who can't afford otherwise. Vornado, you need some englightenment on this subject.:wink:

Think about this: do you really want to OWN a turbocharged car? Not ME!

The only reason to buy a car is if you plan to extensively modify it, or if it's a Honda, which is cheaper to own than lease.

finance. I thought about leasing since im always into the new thing. But then again, I will want to do several mods to it most likely as well.

Finance. So I'm going to go against the rule of never buying a turbo car. In fact, since I'll be 65 in 2008, it'll be a keeper--they'll have to pry the 135i's steering wheel out of my cold, dead hands.

i drove an old turbo'd volvo from about 150k miles to 275k miles before i sold it. never once had the turbos worked on. if the owners before me didn't either, then that car went around 300k miles w/o turbo trouble or maintenance.

also, i had basically zero engine work besides regular maintenance...clutch..timing chain/belt etc

therefore, i'm not that scared about purchasing.

Heck yeah I want to own it. If I get tired of it after 4 yrs, I'll move onto to something else, if I decide to keep it, I'll extend the warranty. Bottom line: if you cant afford to BUY the car you really shouldnt be leasing.

I completely agree. But that has nothing to do with leasing the car when you can afford to buy it. Especially when we don't know the final pricing and lease offers.

To steal a quote from another post I just made:

Bottom line: Don't just accept anecdotal recommendations on what to do with your money. Look at the cashflows as well as what else you could do with the money and figure it out for yourself.
