I like the idea alot myself even though I'm waiting inline for a 135i.

I thought I would toss this out there to see what peoples thoughts were on such an idea of these sorts.

ya between the cost of development and parts the 135i with a PROcede would be a much better bargain

I read more about the N52 engine on Wiki. Supposedly the latest euro version of this engine is factory tuned to 268hp/232tq (or 272hp, cant remember) all motor. Those would be pretty impressive numbers considering the 128i will be a good bit ligher than the 135i already. Hell, the engine itself weighs 75lbs less than the N54.

Wow. It would be nice if they put that tuned set-up in the 128i for sure. Then adding a blower to that would make it off the hook.

Supercharge the 135i. That would make it a twin-charger like the Lancia Delta S4. It was claimed to do 0-60 in less than 2.5 seconds -- on gravel.

It's not really necessary w/ the N54's off idle boost response...

+ it adds a lot of unnecessary complication..
You would need to fab up an electro-magnetic clutch for the blower, a bypass so the turbo's can take over at higher rpm's and somehow make that transition seamless.

VW has been dabeling w/ twincharged setups w/ great success.

I've never been a fan of aftermarket FI for cars unless you get a stand alone FMS.

First you say "It's not really necessary". Well of course not. A thread about adding superchargers on an approx 6 second 0-60 BMW 128i is an obvious excursion into the unnecessary. It is an obscene dive into the desire for "More". 135i, 128i, it doesn't matter, there can always be "More". That's what "More" means.

Next you say twincharging a 135i is too hard, quickly followed by saying Audi is twincharging with great success. Which is it? Too hard to do, or something that can be done with great success?

I have to say your posts grate on my nerves. It's like you comb through all the posts looking for something, ANYTHING, you can contradict so you can start an argument.

I'm going back to blocking you. Why don't you do me a favor and block me too? That way you won't be tempted to use my posts for argument fodder in your quest for conflict.

I didn't say any of this...

Let me put it this way.. There is a difference between buying a production twin-charged model and building your own twin-charged system.

I'm sorry if I offended, I am just striving for a little objectivity. I am not arguing anything... Just stating my opinion.

I don't want or need to block anyone. If anything i seek resolution.. Why are you so bothered by me? If you wish to answer use PM.

I think the SC for a 128i would be good and an option for owners of to get "after" they have bought the car. Saying someone should go out and get a 135i doesnt make sense if their intend was to get a 128 then after a year decide they want something faster.. So its a good option to get for owners and not new buyers of the 128i's.

I think that makes more sense..

Interesting...I had the same idea!
I was thinking something along the lines of adding the Dinan upgrade to the 128i, how that would work...I have no idea...but the cost sounds good --price of a 128 w/ leather is around 31k plus the 2k for dinan would bring you out to a 33k....if Dinan is possible in the 128i...it'll save you around 5k...which would be really nice!

I would much rather have the 135i. Factory warrantied and tested etc. No thanks to a modded 128i. Sorry but I think its silly when the 135i is available. Its like supercharging a V6 Mustang when you can just get the GT. IMO............................................... ......

Where would you get a supercharger setup installed for less than $6,000? And not some ghetto setup.

Plus No Warranty.

135i M-tech kit looks 100% better.

Superchargers and Valvetronics don't get along very well without major engine management modifications and a second throttle body. Just look at the Alpina B7.

I like supercharge than turbo. However, some people do not have enough money so that they can afford. You can tune the 128 just like the 135 with good brand parts. It will cost around 12K.

The N54 engine is heavier because it is built stronger. All alluminum with steel liners I believe. It was built to put out over 300hp. The N52 was not. If you design and build your own system you might be able to save some money in the short run. In the long run, you would be better off with the N54. JMHO
