Exclamation 135i vs Audi TT 2.0 (yes, thats right)

ok ok ok, dont flame me yet......

today i stopped by audi and drove the audi TT 2.0....i have been around here for awhile, so give me a chance here. Yes i know the obvious RWD vs FWD, 200hp vs 300hp, engine comparisons and the "entirely different cars" comments but after seeing it at the Phily Auto Show, i had to drive it...

OK...the sales associate was GREAT. Very educated on all aspects of audi and even knew his BMW shit too. I was honest with him about having a 135 on order and i really just wanted to drive the TT. We chatted for 20 or so minutes about engines, TQ, trannys, etc... i was so impressed. First he took me out ( he is a prof. driver and a huge car enthusiast), he unleashed on the car like a maniac....the car was there at every turn, bend, stop, acceleration....i was blown away by the sport shifting as well. NO WAY did it feel like a 2.0, i actually asked him at one point if we were in the 3.2 Quatro. He said the 3.2 isnt worth it at all. The FWD was straight as an arrow, no understeer or body roll at all. The exhaust was harmonious!! The TT has this "burp" at redline shift. Then i got behind the wheel and unleashed hell on the poor car. It was at my fingertips with everything. It literally jumps down the road. And hits curves with such extreme aggressiveness.

i am totally impressed with every aspect of the TT.....

well thanks for listening...remember i know the same ol BS comments...i am comparing $40,000 cars , and since i havent driven the 135, the TT has moved ahead of the BMW for now, for me! :eyebulge:

I don't have a TT, but I do have a 2005.5 A4 with that same turbo motor in it. Let me tell you, even between it and my 330i, there's no comparison. The 4 cylinder is a rough engine at idle, and when my wife starts the car in the garage, the house vibrates due to it's roughness.

Listen carefully.. get up now and go drive a 335i to take yourself off of that ledge. The BMW I6 is Motor of the Year. It'll do circless around the TT.

I drive a GTI with the 2.0T engine and I LOVE IT. Def feels like more than just 200hp.

Looks like you have a tough decision on your hands!

I'm sure the interior was great too.

If you're hooked on the TT because of how it performed, then you owe it to yourself to at least wait until you drive the 135.

I am impulsive too. I almost picked up a G37 a few months ago. Glad I waited. Drove the 3.2 TT 6spd which has quattro 6 months ago and wasn't very impressed. My A4 felt just as fast. Don't get me wrong the TT was very fun to drive and handled like it was on rails, but lacked in the power department. I would have got one but the lease would have been in the high $700's. I had an R32 before with the same engine and felt like I needed something different. I think the TT is way overpriced for what you get. Especially the 2.0 which only comes FWD for the moment. I was told Audi may offer a 2.0 Quattro. A TTS version is coming out soon which is supposedly a 2.0T with 270 hp and quattro. I'd rather get a GTI and save about $17K. Looking forward to March 22!!

There are plenty of other dealers then, who will have demo cars.

i test drove a 335i yesterday and drove the new evo x gsr today. Trust me, wait for the 135i. The evo was slow but the greatest handling car i ever driven (great if youre gonna track the car but not for me). The 335i was so much faster and more fun to drive. So if the 135i is faster and better handling then the 335i, all is gonna break loose.

Go drive the 335i coupe with sport package. THen imagine your 135i and how it will be more nimble, lighter and better brakes.

You wont be buying the TT. As someone who testdrove a 2.0t, 3.2 quattro tt, and a VW R32. The N54 engined BMW's are quite special.

I was looking pretty hard at the TT and the G37 too. I test drove the G37 twice but wouldn't let myself drive the TT because I was afraid of the same thing happening.

I just know the 135 is going to be incredible. And I'm sure I would kick my own ass if I bought a TT now, and then kept getting burned out on the street by future 135's.

So for me, I'm all in for the 135. Hang in there bro - you can make it! :headbang:

Great styling, good handling but no rwd? I would get the 3.2 if 135i wasn't available.

see one part of me says this, then the other part says why not?

for 3 years now i have told myself that i will buy a BMW next. I am in love with all aspects of today's BMW's. I just think the TT and new new audis have really flew under the radar with their styling and performance.

i am pretty picky....actually....i am easily impressed but then find flaws and imperfections in things after i sit back and evaluate it.....
so far nothing in the TT......i really need to sit in and drive this damn 135.

NJKSC27,

I have driven the new TT and 135, but the TT was the 3.2 quattro...and given that the TT turbo is a GTI in an evening dress and I have driven one, I would have to say that the 135 is MUCH better, for starters it has rear wheel drive, and secondly, it has the best engine in a mass produced vehicle ever!!! Enough said.

It will also tear any TT a new one in any situation or environment

No contest .... in my opinion...The TT is an excellent car but is just not in the 135's league..
