Recommendations for Ramps?

I've been looking around for some low-profile ramps for the 1er. Does anybody have any recommendations for a specific model they're happy with?

I'm thinking about these Rhino Ramps, but some of the Amazon reviews mention sliding problems with RWD cars.

I have rhino ramps. I love them.

I do not have sliding problems, now that I lowered by car. I have to use pieces of 2x8's at the beginning of the ramps, because the front spoiler hits the ramp before the tire does. Once I did that, it solved my sliding ramp issue.

I use a piece of that non-skid matting that you put under throw rugs to keep them from sliding.

Those are really nice looking, but are 8 times the cost of the rhino ramps. (I'm sure there are even more expensive options out there too) :smile:

Rhino ramps FTW. With a couple 2x4's, I could even get my slammed G35 up on them with no problem.

If youre worried about cost why not just make your own. This way you control the slope too. Just nail boards together and step them up as high as you want.

The only problem with nailed board type ramps is that they are HEAVY and usually very long to get the stepped lift you need. But on the plus side they are very inexpensive and very strong.

My RhinoRamps were $19.99 at Pepboys. They are a great, lightweight option.

Not necessarily true I built a set for my lowered GTI as I couldnt get up my steel ramps anymore. The wood ones are lighter and shorter (in height and length), they don't go up as high but they are high enough to get under and change the oil.

I would recommend getting a good pair of jack stands and a floor jack. There is usually a center point at the front of the car where you can lift the entire front end at once which allows you to put the jack stands in place.

I used to have steel ramps that I thought worked well, I had them slip on me once and almost damaged the underside of my car. Never used them again, not worth the risk.

They definetly will slide on a painted floor. I use a jack and then put the ramps under them.

I like this idea the most. Jack her up and put her down on the ramps, and put wheel stops behind the rear tires. I have H.D. jack stands and still get very nervous using them.:eyebulge:
