there has been lots of threads about this already. but my advice would to sit in the back seat yourself. I am 6f2inches but i sit quite upright and close.

When i sit behind myself there is an enough room for probably an hours drive or so

I sat in one at a car show. I'm 6'1 and the legroom was good. Headroom would have been better if i had a chance to lower the seat a bit, but when the dealer unlocked the car people went in a frenzy to get in!

The main difference compared to a 3 is cabin width - the 1 is a bit narrower inside. As others have said, adults will fit in back in a pinch. But if you want to put people back there often, I'd go with a 3 sedan or wagon.

Pretty similar to an E46, if you've been in one of those. Slightly smaller.

How about a slightly different question for the folks who have driven the 1 - is the driver's seating area similar in size to that of a 3-series? Does it feel cramped in any way? As the car is narrower than the E9x, one might be concerned about elbow room, in particular on door side.

i talked to my sales man yesterday and he showed me something pretty cool...if u take the 328i and the 128i books and look at the dimensions on the inside...the 128 is actually a few inches bigger in ever directions other than head room event he back seat was wider....

I'm 6'5" and have had a Z4 for the past 5 years and recently sat in the 135i coupe and 128i Cabrio.
There is a ton more legroom and headroom in the 1er than the Z4.
In the Z4 my seat had to be all the way back and my knees came withing an inch of the dash,, In the 1er my knees were 6" away from the dash with the front seat all the way back.
There's a lot of travel in the front seat and it will go right up against the back seat.
