I used those on all the holes for the dead pedal and for the gas pedal. The ones on the right were used for clutch & brake. In the end I had 4 sets of the ones on the right left over. I guess you can use either type for the gas pedal? :iono:

That turned out to be a bigger PIA than expected. I wasted easily an hour with my crappy 12v cordless drill on the damn metal brake pedal.

Bullitt - I used the Self tap (left screws) for the dead pedal and the two top locations on the accelerator - Was concerned that the nut and bolts (right) would stick to far out and could impact the accelerator stop – Used nut & bolts for the bottom two accelerator pedal and all four holes on both clutch and brake.

Be WARNED - the bottom right nut was a real tough fit - Used tape and right angle tweezers to offer it up. I believe other folks just used the self tappers on all four accelerator holes.

As a general guide I used the template to locate a single starter hole in all the pedals, then fitted the performance pedal, squared it up then drilled and installed each fastener in turn. I’m a cautious woodworker and even more so when working in metal.

As noted previously – If you own a flexible shaft dremel – Install will be considerably easier. If you don’t own a ¼ inch torx bit fitting the self tappers – Go purchase a set from somewhere (Home Depot last night - $6) – It’s the only way to get the top dead pedal screws in.

Jockey – Nice Sig Pic ( That IS what I think it is right ? – B83 Type Enable/ Pre-release Switch). I found that my 12V Makita + metal drill bits made short work of ‘em all.

I've installed these on my car. Everything was cake except the metal brake pedal. That took me far longer than anything else. I started with a tiny drill bit, and worked my way up to 5/32

Well put, my friend has a 335i and I see his pedals and just think wow, I could never have lived with that. These pedals draw your eyes every time you open the door!!!

Do you think it would looks weird with only the pedals and no footrest? I suppose if you are going to do the pedals, you may as well do everything, but I'm just curious...

Any pictures with only the pedals?

I believe it's all based on taste. If you like them without the footrest, just get the pedals :smile:

Great DIY. Hadn't seen any pictures yet of the pedals in an auto in here, so I thought I'd post mine. As others have said, footrest was the hardest to install.

No pictures, but personally, yes, I think it would look a little... incomplete. But your opinion may vary. Since shipping is free just order the pedals, take a picture and compare it to, say, this one. You should be able to decide for sure then.

right bottom right screw for the gas pedal is a bitch screw. There is almost no place to hold the nut in place in order for the screw to line up. I've been trying to do it for the past 20 minutes.

Can't really say you shouldn't use the self tappers - but if its any comfort it is possible - Honest.

Thanks for the support. I went back after my last post and fed a bent paperclip through the hole to line up the nut. Took a few tries but finally got it. I thought the whole set would only take about 30 minutes but nope, totally wrong. At least it looks spectacular now :headbang:

They gave me 12 nuts with bolts and 4 self taps. I think they give us a choice but personally I think the self taps are not as secure but that would have been a lot easier.

I just put the rubber inserts into my performance pedals. One thing I noticed was that the accelerator pedal's rubber insert barely covers the holes. Is that how it is supposed to be? All of my other pedals' rubber inserts stick out by a noticeable amount.

Mine was the same way. I'm pretty sure that's how it is supposed to be.

So I did mine today and here is the only advice I can offer on putting the rubber into the medal pedals. After trying for a couple of minutes and getting irritated I did two things. I threw the rubber pieces into the freezer for about 20 minutes hoping this would shrink the rubber, (I have no idea if this helped or not, but I didnt think it could hurt). Then about halfway through, I figured out if you let the middle of the piece bubble out and concentrate on getting the tips of the rubber in to the slots first that it made it A LOT easier to get the rubber in. Hope this helps.
