BMS filter kit

This sound clip is very intoxicating.

Terry, did you get a chance for fitment when you briefly had the 135i? I would be interested in this kit for my car.

Does this void the warranty?

It fits great. I think we have the only 135i intake out right now.

Any mod can void a warranty if the dealer thinks it caused the problem. Protect yourself by removing it before service. Takes 15 minutes.

I'll probably be going with this intake. It looks like it'll be a filter kit that's easy to modify with heat shields, intake scoops, etc.

Looks "interesting" but I'm not a fan of sucking in all the air from inside the engine compartment where the air is already hot as hell. JMO

In a turbo car, it actually doesn't make as big of a difference as you'd think, especially with an aftermarket intercooler. If you look at most "tuner" turbo cars, they stick a filter right on the coolside of the turbo.

Flow is the #1 factor for making power in an FI car.

I'm also considering fabricating something along the lines of a PRM intake system: http://www.prmracing.com/

The challenge for any system is getting enough cold air into the engine compartment. A hood scoop would be the best solution, but I'm loathe to do that on a DD car.

It is still connected to the factory cold air intake so it isn't really taking the air from the compartment.

Once you add DPs the intake will make a HUGE difference on the topend. Helix picked up an extra 20whp after 6000rpms just by removing the lid from the airbox! This should make a big top end difference on a tuned car.

How is it still connected to the "cold air intake"? It sure looks like it is just pulling air from the engine compartment.... Which is HOT.

I think he mains the ram air sccop outlet from the kidney grill is positioned directly in front of the air filter.

Just refer to the description on the Burger website for the filter kit. "...it is designed to take full advantage of the factory cold air inlet."

I was working on some shrouds but the intake air temps at the throttle body (post turbo and intercooler) were about the same as the filter alone. Then for testing I put the stock airbox back on and observed identical IAT temps. Long story short this filter gives similar IAT temps to the stock airbox.

But then again what do I know, I only ran 11s with it.

The kit includes our custom filter, anodized black aluminum couplers, and clamps.

It's easy to say its pulling hot air but when you do the actual measurements post turbo/intercooler the story changes. I put a whole thread up on another forum about how surprised I was that the IAT didn't change from the stock airbox to this filter arrangement, and how the various head sheilds I implemented didn't help IAT at all.

On another front the filter gets fresh air from the factory air scoop, and gills located to the right of it.
