it was a VERY VERY soft launch as I did not want to be mean to 0002's new baby. I was REAL impressed with the trap speed of 107mph.

As far as comparison to real life, in the past cars have traped within .5 mph and +/- .2 ET from what they did on the dyno.

The video does the car absolutely no justice - this looked SO cool and it sounded badass... This was by far the coolest part of the day!

.

Wow...bold guys.

I def would not do that to my car. The positive and negative sheer stresses on the components from being strapped down is very harsh. Thanks for the video though.

I'm by no means an engineer, but guess I fail to see how this is any more harsh than banging gears on the strip or street... Either way, Clayton wasn't beating the hell out of the car and it wasn't launched, so I doubt any harm was done.

Quantify the consequence with data?

I've dynoed hundreds of cars, and have yet to see any issues..oh well..maybe I'm missing something..

I talked to Jon last nite and he was nice to me:biggrin: I am looking to get the HR sway bars for a start. Somehow the bodyroll bugs me. I am just thinking if KW3's are worth it since the stock susp is new.

Well I cant quantify it with data because that would cause for some major stress/strain analysis.

I'm not saying my thoughts are absolutely correct, because I really dont know much about dynos.

I see no problem with running a car on a dyno to see the power output, but as you know that run is done in a single gear while the car is already up to speed. Its all pretty calm with with not much jerking on the car.

On the 1/4 simulation hard shifts and throttle inputs are engaged and as it is seen in the video those inputs cause high jerk forces on the car. It just looks like the chaiss is under some substantial stess. I'm NOT saying its wrong, and I am sure that one time is not going to hurt anything. I would just be skeptical about doing more than a couple of times.

Once again I'm no dyno guru at all, so there is a good chance that I may be way off on this one.

I'm sure you know much more about dynos than I do, so until I get on your level you are da DON:w00t:

i wouldn't be doing 1/4 mile pulls everyday but once in a while for fun won't hurt.

That sounded awesome... you'd probably run a better time if you put the hood down... less drag at the top end.

haha

WE have been doing dyno drags for years. If done properly it can be safe and quite fun
