aftmkt remote start?

What do you all think about the addition of a remote start? Would be more to deal with than the little tiny fob but in some areas, i could see where firing it up from the warmth of your home would be a nice thing to have... seen anyone doing it to the 3s?

Do you know if it can be done for this car?

According to my dealer it cant be done and if I try to install an aftermarket one they will void my warranty. I call BS on them but dont want to chance it when I get my car.
The new altima coupe with push button start can be programmed at the dealer for a few hundred extra to have remote start right on the oem keyfob. Nothing changes, just hit the unlock and something else in a specific sequence and boom it starts. If nissan can do it im sure bmw can.
Ask your dealer and see what they say.

The dealer is right. It can't be done without compromising the warranty and the car's security.

I only recommend remote start to those who have a manual trans. and always park the car in gear.

Why do you want remote start?

Remote start is a BAD idea IMO. Its NOT good to idle the 135i for more then a couple minutes MAX. If its cold outside get heated seats, warm it up for 30 seconds and drive it easy for a little while IMO.

Why is it not good to idol for more than a few mins? Never heard of such a thing...on ANY car, not just the 135i.

It wastes fuel and puts unnecessary (albeit minor) wear on the engine.

wow, honestly I dont know what BMW guys have against remote starts.

Some have good points but the whole idea of a remote start is to have the car warm/cool when you get in.. so you dont come out of 100* weather and have to sweat in the car til it cools down or freeze until it warms up.. sure heated seats work but the wheel isnt heated and I sure hate to wear a coat while driving.. too bulky

Buy a remote shock collars for dogs, hire a dwarf to wear it, have him live in your car. Solved.

... better gig than starring in S&M pornos, I imagine.
